Boyzone's Stephen Gately Laid to Rest in Dublin, Ireland

The final sad chapter in 33-year-old Stephen Gately's life came to a close in Dublin, Ireland as the Boyzone singer was laid to rest after a service at the St Laurence O'Toole Memorial Church in the Dublin neighborhood where Gately grew up. Gately died unexpectedly last week while on vacation in Spain with his husband Andrew Cowles.

Nearly four thousand mourners stood outside the church while 600 mourners inside paid their respects. Gately's fellow Boyzone member Ronan Keating called Gately "a man, a friend, a brother, a son, a husband, a hero." 

Gately's tragic death from natural causes has drawn worldwide attention which only increased after a homophobic column by the Daily Mail's Jan Moir who used Gately's death to launch a vicious attack  against gays and lesbians. Mourners at Gately's funeral took time to lash out at Moir and the Daily Mail to demand an apology.
