Eight Great Things About Argentina — Besides Gay Marriage!

In celebration of the fantastic news that Argentina is set to become the first country in South America to legalize same-sex marriage, I thought this would be a good time to look at eight other reasons — some gay, some not — that Argentina is great!

1) Burnt Money

This 2000 Argentinian film is based on the true story of two men who were bank robbers — and lovers — who come to a tragic end. It was also particularly noteworthy for being especially steamy. The film was nominated for and won a number of awards, but most importantly, our readers placed it at #23 on the list of Greatest Gay/Bisexual Movies of All Time

2) Tennis star Juan Martin Del Potro and Rugby Union star Juan Martin Hernandez

Okay, Argentina is loaded with hot men, but these two especially caught our eye! Del Potro is notable because he is currently ranked the 7th best tennis player in the world after having beaten some fellow named Roger Federer in last year's U.S. Open.

As for Hernandez, he's a fine player and has done well, including winning the domestic championship in 2004 while playing for Stade Français, but honestly, he's here because he's one of those rugby players who loves getting his kit off for those Stade calendars. Hey, we never said we were deep!
