Ten Unforgettable Moments From The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards

Before we begin, I have a confession to make: I kind of detest today's pop music. Occasionally someone will break down my defenses (Lady Gaga, Pink), but 90% of the music on my iPod is from the 80's (the greatest decade in pop culture).

So watching last night's Grammy Awards was a learning experience for me. I had no idea who any of the Best New Artist nominees were including Kings of Leon which won Record of the Year for a song I've never heard. And I was stunned that the little blond girl who went overboard with the Conair crimping iron won Album of the Year.

You can see a complete list of the winners here, and in case you missed the show, here are ten of the highlights.

1. Elton John and Kinky G.

Lady Gaga opened the show with a wonderfully over-the-top "Fame Monster" bit and then was joined by Elton John for a piano duet. With this collaboration Elton seems to have passed the "glorious wretched excess" torch to Gaga.

Gaga and Elton thought performing under the Brooklyn Bridge was a great idea ... until they looked up and saw the Dave Matthews tour bus overhead.

2. Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks

Long-time readers know how I feel about Stevie Nicks, but in case you don't, look at my name for an inkling. The Goddess of Rock closed down the Fajita Roundup to come and perform with crimp girl. Unfortunately, Taylor's singing probably made Stevie think "I dragged out my best shawl for this?" Oh, and whatever you do, don't ask AE Editor Michael Jensen to tell his Stevie story.

"Look kid, you try and steal my spotlight and you'll wind up like Christine McVie - walled up in my crawlspace."
