Eleven Hot Political Reporters!

What did we learn from the debt crisis last month, apart from the fact that Republicans are willing to destroy the entire country if they don't get their way, and the United States has basically become ungovernable?

Well, in a slightly more optimistic take on the whole affair,, I also learned that a bunch of the nation's political reporters are extremely hot!

Ezra Klein

Take Ezra Klein, who is currently my number one favorite blogger/pundit/political writer (for the Washington Post and Newsweek) — and truthfully, the fact that he is so completely, utterly adorable is the least of what I like so much about him.

The 27-year-old Klein, who came by his current position of influence by working his way up from the ranks of the "citizen bloggers," is a wonk's wonk extraordinaire: wry and insightful, incredibly smart, but never hysterical. The fact that he successfully defeats his rhetorical opponents through sheer intellect, without bombast or arrogance, makes me (sometimes) think that maybe this country isn't completely screwed after all.

Jonathan Capehart

Jonathan Capehart, a political columnist and blogger for the Washington Post, also happens to be an out black man. Capehart has always been a thoughtful voice in political matters, but with the debt ceiling "crisis," he's been on fire lately, cutting through all the doublespeak and false equivalencies and laying it out, stating plainly: the Tea Party, which was elected to government, is simply uninterested in actually governing.

Brian Montopoli

Brian Montopoli is a senior political reporter for CBSNews.com and future Playgirl centerfold.

Todd Zwillich

I don't know much about Todd Zwillich, the Washington correspondent for The Takeaway from Public Radio International, except that I love his last name and his Tweets.

Matt Taibbi

The problem with Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi, whose reoccurring theme in his blistering articles is that America is a country in rapid decline? He's too handsome! Don't political reporters have to be at least a little nebbish? I suppose we can let him stay in the club — providing we get assurances that he's not beating Ezra Klein and Brian Montopoli up behind the gym!
