Stripping 101: The Guys From "Magic Mike" Can Learn A Thing or Two From These Classic Male Strip Scenes

As you've probably heard (we may have mentioned it a few times), Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh is preparing to film the Citizen Kane of beefcake films. No doubt, Magic Mike will be competing for Oscars this time next year.

Magic Mike is based on the early stripper life of actor Channing Tatum, who will star in the film alongside some of the most notable male specimens of this generation.

You may think that a film about stripping will be silly, and a walk in the park for these actors, but this is serious business. If there's one word that will never be used in conjunction with this movie, it's "fluff."

Oh wait. Actually, that word may play a role.

What I mean is that it's not going to be as simple as it looks. Stripping isn't only about taking your clothes off. It's a complicated art form, and it's very easy to look foolish.

Luckily for these actors, we've got something that could come in handy. A short list of some of our favorite strippers, stripping and striptease scenes through the years!

In addition to getting us hot and bothered, the actors in these scenes know that it's not enough to just show the goods. They have to show their personalities, and vulnerabilities, too.

But mostly it's about showing the goods.

Setup: Let's see, we have Jake Gyllenhaal wearing a Santa hat. Only a Santa hat. Wearing only a Santa Hat while busting a few stripper moves.

Chestnuts roasting, indeed.

Of course it's hot, and Jake has the perfect costume, but unfortunately major points have to be taken off because we don't see the actual stripping.

Because Jake shows us the result without the process, he only scores two Channings.

The Bold And The Beautiful

Setup: Canadian actor Dylan Neal has starred in the series Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Blood Ties, and most notably, as Pacey's gay older brother Doug on Dawson's Creek (he eventually ended up in a relationship with Jack).

But one of his most memorable performances was as struggling college student Dylan on The Bold And The Beautiful. Like many struggling college students, he had to do anything he could to make ends meet. Including stripping for hungry cougars.

Thank God for struggling college students.

Even better is when his secret is discovered by one of the show's divas (Tracy Bregman gives a classic reaction shot.)

These clips have everything you want in a striptease scene. The costume, the moves, the hotness, and the vulnerability. It earns a full five Channings.
