Marcellas Reynolds May Be A Diva, But He Isn't Easy
by Tabby Lavalamp, September 12, 2006

Marcellas ReynoldsThe competition may be over for the only openly gay contestant on Big Brother: All-Stars, Marcellas Reynolds, but the season isn't. Currently languishing in sequester house hell, Marcellas became the first member of the jury of seven who will decide which of the final two wins half a million dollars tonight.

Unlike in the actual Big Brother house, jurors in sequester aren't entirely cut off from the world. They are occasionally allowed to do interviews under certain conditions, including the stipulation that all questions must be kept to events that the House Guest would have been present for while in the house. AfterElton.com's talk with Marcellas took place the afternoon of Thursday, September 7th.

Our interview was originally scheduled for the week before, but the day it was supposed to take place Hurricane John was heading directly for the sequester house located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

AfterElton: What's the most shocking thing you've heard [in sequester] so far?
Marcellas Reynolds:
I'm not shocked that Janelle had a deal with Dr. Will because I think we all knew that, but I'm shocked that she had that deal from as far back as week two. And I'm actually shocked at the relationship between Mike Boogie [Malin] and Erika [Landin]. We all thought that they were just flirting and hanging out a bit or whatever, but I didn't know that they were really as serious as a “showmance” could get on the show..

AE: Were you kind of surprised after previous seasons and what we've seen of “showmances” that anyone would do that again?
MR:
It is one of the most stupid and shocking things I have ever heard--that these two women [there was also a “showmance” between Dr. Will and Janelle] have allowed themselves to make emotional decisions based upon the two biggest liars in the game ever.

AE: If you were able to go back and play this season again, would you have made different alliances, would you have done anything different?
MR:
You know what? This is the crazy thing about it, I would have stuck with my deal with Janelle 'til the end, because you know why? The worse Janelle started to play, the better it looked for me. If I had gotten to the end against Janelle, I could have beat Janelle.

AE: Howie. Howie, Howie... We saw what had happened, the fight with him and George, we saw you and him fight by the pool. One thing about sequester: are cameras on you all the time?
MR:
No. The cameras are only on us when we are watching as new people come in, and as we're watching the events happen [competitions and ceremonies recorded on DVD], and then they have to shoot b-roll, us interacting in the house, and what it's like to live in the sequester house.

AE: So is Howie only like that when the cameras are on?
MR:
No, he's like that all the time. One of the reasons why my stay in the Big Brother house was so bad this season was because of the behavior of Mike "Boogie", Will, Jase, and Howie. It was like living with out of control frat boys. To me it was like a reign of terror unlike any other I've ever experienced. I've never been around somebody who could so much care less about the feelings and comfort of other people.

I don't know if it's because I'm homosexual, if I have this empathy for other people, but literally the way he [Howie] speaks about women, the way he treated the other House Guests... I found it reprehensible and I can not say enough how hard it was to live with him particularly, but with Will and Mike "Boogie" and unfortunately Jase, because I really like Jase.
