Interview with Carson Kressley

AE: Do you still stay in touch with the other guys from Queer Eye?
CK:
I do! Yeah. Kyan, I talked to him and he's in LA and spending a lot of time in Mexico, just kind of chilling and relaxing and doing some work for Loreal. Thom has a new show on Style Network called Dress My Nest, and Jai has a new show on the Style Network with Daisy Fuentes called Ultimate Style, and Ted is working on a pilot for the Food Network. He and Thom are the two that still live in New York where I live, so I get to see and talk to them the most.

Jai is out in LA with Kyan. So I try to get to see them whenever I can. People always ask if we're still friends. I think we're beyond friends because we went through this incredibly unique experience together that none of my other friends know what that's like. They have an idea, but they didn't experience it. I think we'll always have a special family bond. God made us gay, reality TV made us sisters.

great interview

love Carson, he is my favorite. he's not the hottest of all but he is so funny and really smart. in the end intelligence is the most important. I haven't watched the show yet but like the concept. it seems to start with make-over but actually have a much bigger ambition towards psychology and mental health of people. and i feel Carson is the perfect host. he has the most healthy/outgoing/positive personality i've seen(it's hard to achieve being the way he is, needs lots of talent and courage.)

My favorite quote...

..."There's nothing less stereotypical than being out and proud and being who you are." Nice answer Carson.

My favorite new expression: "Effemiphobia." There seems to be a lot of that on the AE forums and in the gay community in general. I never felt the guys on Queer Eye were trying to be anything but themselves. Sad that people, gay people no less, will call you a stereotype for being yourself, or because of your chosen profession. Great interview from Carson.

Interesting Guy

Josh, I personally could not stand the Queer For The Straight Guy show because I was not interested in the subject material, but I agree with him that as long as a person is being themselves then there is nothing wrong with displaying some of the gay stereotypes.  There is no bigger turn off for me as a gay man then dealing with people that are not being themselves, whether it be acting out as an effiminate man (bitchy queen persona) or acting out as a super masculine man (super butch persona).

The new show is an interesting concept that will hopefully help combat some of the dangerous behaviours people engage in to try and come up with an ideal body type, whether it be extreme diets, smoking or taking drugs.  There is no magic bullet for losing weight.  My secret (I lost 18 lbs. in the last year) was to work out every day and watch what I ate.

Cheers

"It takes a village (to make Village People)"

I say let Carson be Carson.  He seems to be doing all right for himself.  And it's good to hear that he is still friends with the rest of the Fab Five: Guys, don't wait seven years for a reunion, like the Spice Girls.  Great interview.  Good to hear that he's still into horses--well, you know what I mean!

This is such a lovely

This is such a lovely interview! I wondered who would take over for Gok Wan on HTLGN for the US version, and Carson is such a good choice.

Does anyone know who or where criticised the show for NOT encouraging dieting?! So outraged about that, honestly, the whole show is about realising that you are gorgeous as you are, without clothes, without surgery and without dieting.

The BBC version of How to Look Good Naked

I haven't seen the Carson version of this show, but the BBC version is on Slice. The host Gok Wan is amazing. He is openly gay and has an interesting back ground. He treats the women with kindness and respect. I would love to see an interview with Gok.

If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.
