Interview with "Greek" creator Patrick Sean Smith

AE: Aside from Greg Berlanti who you worked with on Everwood, has there been anyone else in particular that mentored you, in that regard?
SS:
I worked with John August [The Nines]. Honestly, I’ve really been very fortunate. I’ve worked with Silvio Horta [Ugly Betty]as well, and I’ve just been fortunate to work with some incredibly inspiring people. I feel like I’m a product of them as much as I am from Texas, for my life so it’s kind of great.

AE: Looking beyond Greek, do you have any other projects in the works?
SS:
Currently, I’m all Greek, all the time. There’s always stuff kind of floating around, but we’re back in now, post-strike, and that is where my attention is for these 16 episodes, but there are always other stories to tell.

AE: Is Frannie coming back?
SS:
Um, yes.

AE: Awesome! Is she gonna have gained 40 pounds like they said she would?
SS:
[laughing] Tiffany looks amazing. She looks amazing, but yeah – it’s a fun episode, with hopefully kind of a big surprise return.

AE: Oh, fun! You don’t even need to look forward at this point because you’re set for the next year, year-and-a-half at this point.
SS:
Yes, and if the show is still going strong, just pick it up after that and hopefully just keep working on Greek.

AE: Beyond that, do you have any aspirations for moving into film or any dream projects that you’ve always had in the back of your head that you’d like to get to some day?
SS:
Absolutely. Coming off of us working in a lower-level capacity on other shows, and Greek being a big opportunity for me, there are always those things where it’s like, I wonder if I’m going to have a chance to do that someday?

AE: Thanks so much and best of luck with the season!
SS:
Thank you!
