Brad Goreski Looks Good in Anything – Even a Dress

The third season of Bravo’s The Rachel Zoe Project premiered last week on Bravo and fans immediately noticed two big changes – Rachel Zoe’s previous assistant Taylor Jacobson is gone and Brad Goreski has been promoted to her former position.

One other thing is new as well: while Goreski, 32, has always been undeniably good-looking, it’s been in a boyish, preppy, dare one say, geeky way. In fact, Goreski might have been most well-known for the ubiquitous bow ties he always wore.

But the bow ties are gone, at least at a party Goreski is attending in late July to promote the new season of The Rachel Zoe Project. Instead, Goreski is wearing a shiny (but not too shiny) blue suit from a designer named Spur along with a skinny blue tie. Instead of looking quite so boyish as in the past, Goreski looks edgier, refined, even sexier. The look suits him well.

Much about his current life seems to suit him well. Both his personal and professional lives are going great and Goreski is confident and upbeat as we chat about both.

Asked about the changes at Rachel Zoe's office, Goreski says, “Now after Taylor being dismissed or fired or whatever you want to call it, I've been promoted to Style Director, which means I'm basically in charge of everything that has to do with the styling of Rachel Zoe. So, I'm responsible for everything that goes on in the studio. I'm basically the go-to person before people go to Rachel.”

Goreski won’t elaborate on what caused Jacobson to get fired, but says the reasons viewers saw on the show’s first new episode – credit card discrepancies in large part – is the actual explanation.

As for how Jacobson’s departure has affected him, Goreski says, “One day I had my partner in crime sitting next to me and then the next day I didn't have her anymore. That was a huge adjustment for me because all the responsibility came my way whereas before it was pretty evenly divided. But things are going great. Things are going really, really well.”

Asked the best and worst things about being on a reality show, Goreski mostly sees the upside. “I think the best part is that as an assistant, I have visibility that a lot of people don't have within the fashion world. A lot of the designers know who I am through Rachel and through the show and that helps me out a lot just in my daily work.

“I guess the downfall of the show would be sometimes it gets, like, a little tedious and sometimes you just wish there wasn't a film crew there. You know, when you're really in a moment, you've gotta get stuff done, and you're, like, bumping into cameras. You get a battery pack in the head, all kinds of stuff happens.”

In fact, the idea of being on a reality show gave Goreski serious pause about taking the job even though working with Zoe was something he really wanted. Says Goreski, “In the beginning [the reality aspect] influenced me to not do the show, to not take the job. I wasn't sure, especially coming in and being the new person, I didn't know how I was going to be represented. I didn't really know how I would come across.

“But then I also thought, ‘when else am I ever going to get offered to do the job that I've always wanted to do with the person that I've wanted to work for?’ If I was going to be involved in any type of reality show or something on television, I'd want to be involved with Rachel because everything she does, she does with class. She does it high-style and I figured that I was in good hands so I just took a leap of faith.”

Goreski also makes it clear the show isn’t about him and that he isn’t an actor, nor does he want to be. “I'm not a reality TV star/actor/whatever,” he says emphatically. “I'm just a fashion assistant.”

Which isn’t to say he would say no if Bravo did offer him his own show. Asked about doing one, he says, “Potentially. I just…right now, because, you know, I'm eight months into this position with Rachel and things are going really, really well and everything's running smoothly and her brand's getting, like, super, super crazy.”
