12 Questions for … Christopher Gorham

Auggie (Chris Gorham) lost his sight in the war but has not lost his 6-pack.

It would be hard to find a nicer guy in Hollywood than actor Christopher Gorham. The gregarious actor gets to regularly show off that he is equal amounts of brain and brawn on the hit series, Covert Affairs. As the very capable – and blind -  Auggie Anderson, the show wisely doesn’t keep him stuck behind a desk but puts him in the middle of the action where he manages to kick some bad guy ass. Devoted family man Gorham (who you may remember him from Ugly Betty, Harper’s Island or Popular) also makes sure to find the time to hit the gym, as evident from the oft-shirtless scenes on the hit USA series, which airs its season finale tonight.

Gorham took at a stab at 12 questions for us to show he’s more than just a guy with a nice six-pack.

AfterElton:Your first big break as an actor?
Christopher Gorham: My first acting job was in the Danny Boyle film, A Life Less Ordinary, with Cameron Diaz and Ewan McGregor but my first real "break" came three years later with Ryan Murphy's Popular. My day job was name-dropping.

AE: iPhone or BlackBerry?
CG: iPhone. Seriously?

AE: If you could live anywhere in the world with your family (money/career not an issue), where would it be?
CG: Italy. On a lake. Nowhere near George Clooney. We took the kids (only 2 of them, then) to Rome and Positano, years ago, and I was completely blown away by how accommodating the Italians were to families.

AE: Boxers or briefs?
CG:
Calvin Klein.

AE: Last movie you saw in the theater?
CG: The Muppets
. I have 3 kids, but only took two of them, so the next movie I see in the theater will probably also be The Muppets. Before that one, though, we went to the premiere of Happy Feet 2...never mind.

AE: Most embarrassing show on your DVR?
CG: "Embarrassing" is so subjective. My kids record Phineas and Ferb and I love it!

AE: Pizza or burgers?
CG:
Damn you to hell for making me choose! I mean, WHICH pizza and WHICH burger?  Are we talking Terroni pizza vs. some random greasy spoon or is the burger Umami, or Burger's Priest (in Toronto)? Ok, ok, burger. But ONLY because I can think of more favorite burger places than pizza. I hate you.

AE: Favorite and least favorite thing you do at the gym?
CG: I'm hard pressed to think of any favorites at the gym.  I'm not one of those guys who really LOVES to work out.  Right now I'll go with decline bench press, because I can lift more that way and it makes me feel stronger.  I could do with out cardio.

AE: What book are you reading right now?
CG: I recently finished, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.  Haven't picked up a new one yet.

AE: Christmas at home or travel?
CG: Both.  We like to mix it up.  One of our favorite Christmas' was the year we escaped to NY, just us and the kids.  We booked a suite with a fireplace, for Santa, and went ice skating, saw the Rockettes, the whole thing.  It was amazing.

AE: If you weren’t an actor you’d be _________?
CG: …producing, or directing, probably.  I love what I do too much to stray far from it.  Although, I think I could hold my own in web based marketing. I do like Twitter.

AE: Who or what inspires you on a daily basis?
CG: I know it sounds cheesy but my wife, Anel, inspires me. Covert Affairs shoots in Toronto so she's a single parent, for much of the year, to three kids, one with special needs, and somehow manages to carry off all the duties of parenthood while also being one of the most stylish and genuinely funny women you'll ever meet. Honestly, she's a miracle.

The season finale of Covert Affairs airs tonight at 10pm et/pt on USA. You can follow Gorham on Twitter @chris_gorham.
