In Honor of Vera Farmiga's Role as Christine McVie, Let's Cast 5 Oscar-Nominated Actresses as Rock Legends

It is rare that I read a bit of casting news so unexpected, cool, and fitting that I throw my hair back and sing “You Make Loving Fun” to the rococo ceiling mirror in my gazebo, but welcome to now: Vera Farmiga, the coolest thesp in Up in the Air, will play Fleetwood Mac songstress Christine McVie in the biopic of Beach Boy Dennis Wilson.

McVie dated Wilson from 1979 to 1981 and broke it off because his alcohol abuse was, oh, ungodly. He drowned two years later at age 39 after diving off a yacht to recollect items he’d jettisoned three years prior. Aaron Eckhart will play Wilson, and I imagine that scene will evoke the hysterical trauma of his finest moments in Rabbit Hole.

But back to our good time. Let’s take this opportunity to play a game: Pick any Oscar-nominated actress and cast her as a rock legend - preferably one who peaked in the ‘70s. If you want, you may pick younger versions of current actresses since, like, ‘80s Helena Bonham Carter is super perfect for ‘70s Linda Ronstadt. I’ll award kudos, finger snaps, and tailfeather shakes to anyone who can beat my five suggestions.
