Twitterwatch: Tweets From Our Favorite Celebrities, Give a Gay a Sporting Chance!

Hunky Ben Cohen prepares for an interview.

Here at Twitterwatch, we're huge sports fans. We can't wait for football season so we can score a basket or something. O.K., so maybe it's the gay/gay friendly athletes that catch our attention. In this case, they didn't even have to take off their shirts, not that we'd mind. They just had to be great people. It's a shame there are no Americans in the bunch, but there's always tomorrow.

We start with the hunky Ben Cohen, who is the background on my iPhone. Here he is doing good by recording an interview in support of Manchester hosting the next Bingham Cup, the gay rugby championship. Isn't he adorable?

Speaking of the Bingham Cup, Gareth Thomas asked on Twitter who had won this year. I, and half the Internet told him it was New York City’s Gotham Knights, and he offered his heartfelt congratulations. You’d think they would have begged him to attend, being the only out professional player. Next time?

On the list of things that I’d love to see, it’s diver Matthew Mitcham getting his krump on, if only so I could use all those So You Think You Can Dance weird terms for complimenting a good krump. As for the fact that he regularly krumps in a Speedo, I’ve got to say, pics, or it didn’t happen!

Officer Cuddleybear (Michael Cudlitz) is filming a movie in New Orleans, and seemed surprised that muscle guys were on the street posing for pictures with tourists. He’s obviously never attended gay pride festivals.

Bill Maher has said what I have been thinking for years – why do we have ESPY Awards? Aren’t awards for sports by definition the people or teams that won?
