CA Gay Marriages to Resume August 18th

"We're goin' to the chapel and we'e gonna get mare... air... air... reed."

Or at least will soon again have the option in California! Mark your calendars for August 18th at 5:00pm.

Chief Judge Vaughn Walker, who struck down Proposition 8’s ban on gay marriage in California last week, has denied a motion to stay his judgment pending appeal.

Said Judge Walker in his 11-page ruling today: "Any stay would only serve to delay the plaintiff's access to the remedy that they have shown they are entitled to."

Of course, this still gives the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals a narrow window to overrule Judge Walker and reinstate the stay before gay marriages resume.. However, according to MSNBC there is a real legal question as to whether the proponents of Prop 8 even have standing to ask the 9th Circuit to review Judge Walker's ruling today.
