Captain Malcolm Reynolds

Mal was captain of the Serenity on Joss Whedon's tragically short-lived cult sci-fi Western series Firefly. The rakish mercenary was played by Nathan Fillion, who also starred in the Whedon-directed Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog along with Neil Patrick Harris.

Captain Jack Harkness

Torchwood returns this week, and with it everyone favorite pansexual, undying alien hunter, Captain Jack Harkness. Played by openly gay John Barrowman, Captain Harkness has been hailed as a revolutionary queer lead character in sci-fi.

Captain Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp's performance as the flamboyant master pirate delighted audiences and critics alike, and Sparrow was recently at the helm of the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Depp changed the way that we look at both pirates and guyliner.
