Battle of the Network Gays! It's Max vs. Tyler and Nakia vs. Canton vs. Kevin & Scotty!

Every week we're going to pick the gays who made the biggest splash on television and let you, the keepers of the flame, decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner the following Monday, and that champion will reign until a new set of challengers are unveiled the following week.

Here are this week's nominees:

Max Blum, Happy Endings

Unfortunately for Max, this week he came to realize his friend Brad was someone with a limited view of gay people ... a gaycist! When Brad tried to set Max up with a co-worker, it quickly became clear that they had nothing in common except for being gay — and that Brad expected that was all they needed to get along.

Thankfully, Max came up with a clear and clever way to get him to understand his gaycism. He introduced him to Miss Mary, someone he promised would be a good friend to him — even though Miss Mary was a conservative, religious African-American woman who had only race in common with him. He quickly understood Max's point and admitted his gaycism.

Tyler and Nakia, The Voice

When The Voice debuted with two out, lesbian competitors we hoped we would also see gay men make it to the semi-finals. As the auditions wrapped up, we got our wish.

Tyler Robinson warmed our hearts by coming out to his Mormon father on national television and managing to sing "Hey Soul Sister" in a way that made us forget how many times we've head it in commercials.

Then, Nakia, who actually dared to sing Cee-Lo Green's hit "Forget You" in front of Green, gave a daring and amazing performance that convinced Green to become his coach.

Canton Delaware, Doctor Who

When The Doctor was called to 1969, he quickly let former FBI agent Canton Delaware (played by frequent sci-fi drama guest star Mark Sheppard) become a part of his team. Canton was a valuable ally using his government connections, FBI training and ability to adapt to future technology to help them defeat an alien race that had been secretly manipulating humanity throughout its history. The Doctor's trust of Canton continued for decades, as he turned to Canton for help one last time in 2011.

While Canton hinted at his sexuality at first, revealing that his romantic life was the reason why he left the FBI, in the end he came out to Richard Nixon, telling him that the person he wanted to marry was a man.

Doctor Who has included gay and lesbian characters since Russell T. Davies revived it in 2005, but Canton is the first major gay male character since Steven Moffat took over the series. That leaves us hopeful that Doctor Who's inclusive qualities aren't limited to one showrunner's vision.

Kevin Walker & Scotty Wandell, Brothers & Sisters

As expected, Olivia didn't react well to seeing her new family add another new member with the addition of surrogate child Daniel. She started getting in trouble at school and even ran away to the group home where she lived before she became a part of Kevin and Scotty's family.

At first, Kevin and Scotty let themselves focus on Daniel to the point of ignoring Olivia. However, when she ran away, they managed to remind us why they've got the potential to be great fathers, warmly reassuring her she's still an important part of their lives.

Vote for your favorite by Midnight PST Sunday. Be sure to check back on Monday to see who you've picked as Gay of the Week!
