Battle of the Network Gays! It's Jesse vs Mondo vs Sam vs Mitchell!

It's the return of the Battle of the Network Gays! Yay!

Every week we're going to pick the gays we think have made the biggest splash in television and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner the following Monday, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following week to try to steal his title.

The nominees will include a mix of scripted characters and reality contestants, but will not include real people appearing on news programs. However, a real person who hosts a show like the Emmys or Saturday Night Live will be eligible. Basically, the program they appear on has be entertainment/pop culture which is what we mostly cover here.

For example, if Dan Savage makes a memorable cable news appearance, he won't be eligible. But if Neil Patrick Harris hosts SNL, he will probably be nominated. As with any relaunch, we'll be fine tuning the feature as we move forward so fell free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Now on to the nominees!

Sam Adama, Caprica

This week we got a deeper look into Tauron culture, as well as Sam and Larry's home life. We learned that the couple were having problems due to the fact that Sam is obsessed with the war on his home planet and has been sending all their money to the cause.

Brother Jospeh offered marital advice and as with everything involving same-sex relationships on the show, it was treated as completely normal. But he's still Sam Adama, so he also managed to kick a little butt later.

Mitchell, Modern Family

We never really grow up from our need to fit in. And Modern Family's  Mitchell is no exception. So when his coworkers told him they dressed up for Halloween, he donned a padded spandex Spider-Man costume to be in with the "in crowd." Alas, it turns out he had sought advice from the office  outcasts and spent most of the episode trying not to get caught playing dress up. Of course, the result was embarassing and hilarious.

Jesse, In Treatment

On the surface, out teen Jesse is belligerent, angry and not terribly committed to his therapy. While he's got real issues with the fact he's adopted, he's also sexually compulsive and is having a relationship with an older gay male couple. In other words, he's not like any gay teen we've seen before.

Mondo Guerra, Project Runway

The little pixie had loads of talent, even if he couldn't quite pick up the win for the season. His delicate walk between fashion and costumes may have hurt him in the finale, but we still think he's destined for a career in high fashion. But it was his unplanned coming out as HIV+ that truly caught our hearts.

Vote for your favorite by 11 PM EDT Sunday. And be sure to check back Monday to see which network gay our readers have carried to glory!
