It was a big gay night out for the casts and guests of upcoming comedy Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and Broadway's A Catered Affair. Enjoy!

Are Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka a power couple and more!

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are one another's Gay Person's Choice

You may have already popped over to the main page to read the highly-anticipated results of the First Annual AfterElton.com Gay People's Choice Awards Poll and Pizza Party Jamboree. And if you haven't, I'm going to spoil something for you: young Hollywood's Alpha Gay couple, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, did not take the top spot in the Favorite Gay Couple category.

Now, I'm not going to tell you who DID win, so you'll have to look for yourself. But if the above photo, taken recently at a party in New York City, is any indication, Harris and Burtka are one another's first prize.

Seriously, how adorable is that?

AfterElton Briefs: Exclusive new Nuke pic, new Milk goodies, and more!

In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Feast your eyes on that gorgeous, exclusive pic of Luke (Van Hansis) and Noah (Jake Silbermann) from As the World Turns, which is from the shoot that will appear on next week's show. (Luke did pop up on today's show to give Lady Drumstick a pep talk, but no Noah. If ever there were a person to cheer up with ice cream, it would have been her!)
  • Reader nightfish91 tipped us off to this great video of highlights from the Broadway Backwards show (which we covered in a delightfully humpy photo essay earlier this week). Okay, I'm officially hot for Malcolm Gets. Curse you, rhythm!
  • Today would have been James Dean's birthday, and he would have turned 76.

  • These folks posted what they say is a pic of High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel on the set of Milk, where he plays an employee at Harvey Milk's camera shop. Yes, he's wearing a dress. And yes, this is looking even gayer than his character from HSM.
  • Greg Hernandez ran into gay actor Leslie Jordan who assured him that his Sordid Lives co-star Delta Burke is doing very well with her depression treatment.
  • Don't forget to catch up on all the queer stuff that matters in Michael's oven-fresh Best.Week.Ever. column, and have a great weekend!

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

AfterElton Briefs: Neil and David talk Broadway, Cheyenne talks Rock, and more!

  • AfterElton contributor Michael Portantiere chatted to out actor couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, who confirm that they will be performing a duet together at Broadway Backwards 3 ... but won't dish on what the song is. (Please say it's "Shipoopi"!)
  • Speaking of dreamy gay Broadway and film stars ... Xanadu's Cheyenne Jackson recently did a Q&A for Variety and revealed that he would like to play Rock Hudson in a biopic. Someone get this man a production deal and a pair of high-waisted swim trunks STAT!
  • Gay writer/director Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, American Beauty) was at Sundance to screen his new film, Towelhead (formerly Nothing Is Private), along with castmembers, including Peter Macdissi (whom you might recall as Claire's testy art teacher, Olivier).

  • As a part of her online Q&A feature, Hillary Clintonspoke about the increased suicide risk for LGBT teenagers, noting, "we've got to do everything we can to send a clear message that we value you." Amen.

Could the next great gay fave reality show be one for the dogs?

Recently strike-addled CBS ordered three new reality shows. The first two mentioned don't have me excited, though Secret Talents of the Stars could grab my attention if it features enough AfterElton Hot 100 favorites (too bad Cheyenne Jackson's grace on roller skates is no longer a secret). But America's Top Dog strikes me as a show that gay audiences could snap up.

Top Dog will force dogs to live together in a house with their families and trainers. Each week, there will be challenges, relationship dramas... you know the drill. The series will apparently also pit show dogs against home-trained ones.

This could be freakin' fabulous.

The overall concept makes me think of the drama that could be found in spades on Bravo's Showdog Moms & Dads (a show from gay producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.) There's also a strong connection between gay men and dogs, a topic that has inspired books like Woof! A Gay Man's Guide to Dogs and Paws and Reflect: Exploring the Bond Between Gay Men and Their Dogs. However, this show also notably includes "America's" and "Top" in the title, which gives this show a subconscious connection to the very gay America's Next Top Model.

And really, it's pretty hard to think of dog trainers anymore without the kimono-loving gay couple from Best in Show (played by Michael McKean and John Michael Higgins) immediately coming to mind. Here are a few other examples of puppy-loving fellas...

Neil Patrick Harris and a shirtless David Burtka walking their dogs:

There is also T.R. Knight's Advocate cover, posing with a dog that was a gift from emerging gay icon Katherine Heigl.

And here's Lance Bass looking cute with someone's yorkie at a MTV Music Awards afterparty:

There's no word yet on when America's Top Dog will air, aside from "later this year" but I'll be watching for a debut date.

We suggest 15 ways this could be a great year for gay visibility !

To Make a Long Story Short ... Neil and David get a full-page spread, Cheyenne gets bloody, and more!

  • Neil Patrick Harris and boyfriend David Burtka were given the full-page tabloid treatment just like any other young Hollywood couple in Us Weekly, after their adorable red carpet turn at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. "True love" and everything!
  • Cheyenne Jackson admitted to bleeding like a mere mortal at the NYC premiere of Sweeney Todd. I'm not buying it: no one who looks this good without pants has anything less than pure ambrosia running through his veins.
  • Speaking of Cheyenne Jackson (What, was I? Again?), check him out, along with Bernadette Peters and others, at the celebration of Broadway's return following the 19-day strike. Those show-folk. So ... showy!
  • Cleveland Indians pitcher Kazuhito Tadano has returned to play ball in Japan, after initially being rejected in his home country when a gay porn video he appeared in surfaced. (He stressed that he's not gay ... you know, he did it for the kids!) My favorite part of the story? The team he'll be playing for is called the Sapporo Ham.

  • Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency's new gays on the (auction) block, Shaun and Paul, dished to Gaywired about the show and their wonderfully unhinged new boss. Be sure to keep up on our recaps of the brand new season!
  • We mentioned Fall from Grace, the doc on monstrous minister Fred Phelps in the weekend Queerview, but here's a great review to nudge you into watching one if its upcoming airings on Showtime.

Neil Patrick Harris is anything but Miserable

Neil Patrick Harris (pictured arriving on the red carpet last night with his adorable BF David Burkta) may not have won the Emmy last night, but if this clip from The Megan Mullally Show (from last fall) is any indication, he could have challenged Jeremy Piven to a Les Miz-off and taken that statuette fair and square.

I love that NPH knows his Les Miz so well, but I love even more that co-star Jason Segel (Freaks and Geeks, Knocked Up) knows it just as well. Why do I get the feeling the How I Met Your Mother set would be a blast to work on? Let's hope in this year's promotional visits they pull out something from Xanadu.

Check out the musical confrontation below...
