• The trailer for Gus van Sant's Paranoid Park is way better than I had expected. (My initial fears that he was wandering into Larry Clark territory were likely unfounded.)

• I'm fine with a Fight Club musical, as long as they keep the penguins.

• Out actor B.D. Wong is among the TV procedural vets that appear in this amusing strike video about a crime show that has an "impossibly hot" cast but no writers. Favorite line: "We're thinking that we had an episode like this once where her mom did it ... so maybe this also was her mom. It was a little similar to this."

• Gay indie film Dirty Laundry (which we reviewed over here) has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Clay Cane points out the progress this represents given the organization's conservative history, and also brings up some interesting points about Angelina Jolie's nomination for A Mighty Heart.

• Former Washington Redskins football player Dave Kopay came out as a gay man on this day in 1975 (he later published an autobiography that addressed being a closeted athlete). Recently Kopay donated a million smackers to build an LGBT student center at the University of Washington. 

• Gay mag Genre admitted to faking a "reality couple" (with a Playgirl Man of the Year, no less) on the cover of a recent issue focusing on long-term relationships. (Queerty broke and Towleroad then added to the story.) Well, I've had a longer-term relationship with Playgirl than with pretty much anything else, so it kind of works for me.

• Keith Boykin penned an impassioned piece on his blog today about the recent decision of the Clearview Chelsea theater to pull gay African-American comedy Dirty Laundry from its screen after its first week amidst allegations of box-office box-stuffing. (We reviewed the film last week.)

• DirecTV has pulled the plug on the absolutely crazy soap Passions (which has had its share of gay goings-on), after picking it up at a yard sale from NBC earlier this year. Could possibly regift to Oxygen.

• Remember Buffy's gay-vague Legion of Dim? It seems that Danny Strong, who played Johnathan, has become a screenwriter and is penning HBO's 2000 election movie, Recount. Atta Dim!
  
• Jackson Netto of Stuttgart is Mr. Gay Europe.
• Soap Stud Marcus Patrick (soon to play in the gay film Dirty Laundry, which still has no release date) strips down for Playgirl. Like, really. Rod2.0 has the snaps! Oh, and NSFW!



• Gay-fave (well, everyone-fave, really) Dolly Parton has a new album and tour on the way, and the ladies at AfterEllen.com are all over it. DoraLee, get your pretty little butt over there and check it out.
