Tuc WatkinsIs "Desperate Housewives" headed for a five year gap?
Televisionista has been following the Desperate Housewives beat steadily, providing us some tantalizing rumors about where the show might be headed in the next season. One possibility for the fifth season of the suburbia satire has the show jumping ahead five years, leaving the viewers to catch upon what has happened in the meantime. Intriguing enough, but the latest addition to that rumor gets even more interesting: in it, only one of Wisteria Lane's desperate househusbands will still be around when the show picks up five years later, and he'll be sharing his home with Andrew Van De Kamp. Desperate Housewives is one of those series that I've gone back-and-forth with ... there's plenty that makes me want to give up on the series - particularly the way these characters don't seem to learn from their mistakes - but every time I'm ready to give up on the show something pulls me back in (something usually involving the Van De Kamp family). Still, it's been a while since a rumored storyline really grabbed my attention and this "five years later" story does that. And I like the idea of Andrew breaking up Bob and Lee (or just stepping in after some other force splits them up) since it makes the househusbands a part of the last interesting family on Wisteria Lane, giving them a pretty strong connection into the dynamics of the neighborhood. I'd hope the relationship would be pretty accepted by the time we join the story, so that Bree's reaction (and journey to acceptance) can be left as something to be discovered with all the other secrets of those five years. Of course, it's just a rumor so I'm just imagining the possibilities ... what do you think? Do you see potential here? Will it finally give Andrew something interesting to do and, more importantly, give Bob or Lee the chance to be a more interesting character than Betty Applewhite? Marc Cherry dishes on the future of the Househusbands An interview with Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry ran today over at USA Today where he opens up a bit about where the couple is headed and why they're on Wisteria Lane to begin with:
Cherry also notes that while the couple will have a Big Secret like everyone else on the show, they will be instrumental in rebuilding the community after the sweeps-induced tornado that rocks the neighborhood (insert inevitable Wizard of Oz reference HERE). Actors Kevin Rahm and Tuc Watkins (whom we interviewed just last week) also chime in on their roles. Cherry also reveals he named the couple after ABC journalist Bob Woodruff and his wife Lee. (I'm sure it thrills Lee to no end that she's "the bitch" of the couple). What, "Michael and Brent" doesn't have the same ring? I've gotten the sense that some readers haven't been thrilled thus far with how the couple has been portrayed on the show. Any thoughts on this new info? Submitted by on Fri, 2007-11-02 10:47. Gay TV Recap: Sculpture war on last night's Desperate Housewives
Last night on Desperate Housewives we finally learned the last names of the new gay couple on Wisteria Lane. Bob "Hunter" and Lee "McDermott." We also learned that the pair have really questionable judgment when it comes to outdoor art. Bob and Lee prompt a neighborhood revolt when they install a twenty-foot high metal fountain in their front yard. Says Bree, "Of all the gay men in the world, we have to get the two with no taste."
The neighborhood hens spring into action.
Ooh harsh. But about that metal sculpture. It is pretty atrocious. The neighborhood hens tactfully suggest to Bob & Lee that they move their modern art installation to the back yard. The guys refuse. Lee even calls the women "philistines." The neighborhood meets to elect a neighborhood council president. Katherine (Dana Delaney) wins the election in a tight race against Lynette. Her first order of business is to tell Bob & Lee to dismantle the sculpture, but it turns out they have some dirt on Katherine. Basically, they blackmail her into letting the sculpture stay. There go property values on Wisteria Lane. I gotta say, so far Bob & Lee are not turning out to be ideal neighbors. I'm not sure I'd want them living by me. Although, Bob (Tuc Watkins) certainly does look fine in a polo shirt.

Gay couple Bob & Lee (played by Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm) moved into the neighborhood on last night's episode of Desperate Housewives. The first neighbor they meet is Susan (Teri Hatcher), and she makes a lousy first impression...

First pics of Desperate Housewives' gay couple on setABC's been fairly closemouthed about details of the gay couple moving on to Desperate Houswives' Wisteria Lane, but I believe these are the first pictures (okay, screenshots) of the happy couple actually on the set. Access Hollywood snagged a short interview the two actors playing the duo. The interview was conducted while the actors playing life partners Bob and Lee — Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm — were either acting out a kinky fantasy or were filming an Halloween-themed episode. That's Tuc on the left, Kevin on the right.
I always had my suspicion about Aladdin. Here is a pic of the two not playing dress-up.
When asked about the addition of a gay couple onto the show, Tuc told Access Hollywood, "I don’t know why it took so long to bring a gay couple onto this street. It seems natural for this couple or a couple like us to have been here."
