That's right, folks: The NewNowNext Awards are in full swing, and we here at AfterElton.com are thrilled to be hosting one of the online categories: Best Gay Kiss of 2007.

Whether it was snogging Welsh alien-hunters, coming-of-age gay surfers, or straight comedians not squeamish about locking lips with another guy, there's bound to be a kiss in the bunch that caught your attention. To vote, simply pick your fave in the box at the bottom, below these handy, memory-jogging snaps. (All in the name of science, of course.)

Jack (John Barrowman) and Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) on Torchwood

A cute TV pirate, why the Monkey hates Brothers & Sisters, and more!

AfterElton Briefs: "Ugly Betty" wins us over (again) with their new online video, a "Shelter" vet lands his next gig, and more!

Shelter star Trevor Wright (the gay surfing movie is currently available On Demand on here!)

In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Attention Shelter-lovers! Cutiepie lead actor Trevor Wright has been cast as the lead in thriller Vacancy 2. I'm thinking it will be kind of like Vacancy 1, only with cheaper actors. (Sorry, but Trevor ain't Luke Wilson!)
  • Canadian ultimate fighter Kalib Starnes lost badly to competitor Nate Quarry over the weekend, and stooped to calling him a "faggot" after the fight was over, which of course aired nationally and is now preserved online (warning, several uses of the "other F word" also featured) for perpetuity. In case you're keeping score, the guy who WON is the "faggot". (t/y Stephanie for the tip!)
  • Last week we applauded Melbourne television anchor Peter Hitchener for choosing to come out as a gay man for no apparent reason. Well, now it's being alleged that he was blackmailed into coming out by the paper that nabbed the "exclusive". We still applaud Hitchener. The Sunday Herald Sun? Not so much.
Ugly Betty's fab three (Becki Newton, Michael Urie, David Blue)

  • The first Official Ugly Betty Podcast (vlog, dahlings - podcast is SO 2006...) is pretty much the awesomest thing I've seen all month, thanks mostly to the Continued Genius of Becki Newton and the moment where Michael Urie squeezes David Blue's moob.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

here!’s new movie gives gay audiences the romantic film they’ve waited for.

Do you take these men, "For Better or For Worse"?

Out actor (and #31 on The AfterElton Hot 100 List) Chad Allen is set to star in the new wedding comedy For Better or For Worse. He plays the jilted ex of one of the grooms, and brings his new boyfriend to the wedding, played by Melrose Place stud Patrick Muldoon. Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss and Shelter star Brad Rowe appears in the film, and is also the producer.

Interestingly enough, the actual grooms of the "screwball gay wedding comedy" have not been cast as of yet, but the wedding party is filling up fast. Along for the ride are such gay friendly stars as Rebecca Gayheart and Janeane Garofalo (who isn't in nearly enough movies). Best of all, the lesbian minister presiding over the ceremony is none other than Soleil Moon Frye!

Hmm ... Punky Brewster as a lesbian minister? I guess it could be worse, it could be Small Wonder.

Even though Rowe presumably plays straight here (he's labeled as a "family-man brother" who is the employee of Garofalo's nanny character), he's no stranger to playing gay and his involvement in this project as producer is more than welcome.
