Yesterday People Magazine posted a couple of pics from the May 1 episode of Ugly Betty which features a guest appearance by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. Frankly, this seems like brilliant casting as the over-the-top Christian and his equally over-the-top clothes fit in rather well with Betty. Christian designed all the clothes being worn by the models as well as Amanda's (Becki Newton) outfit. I confess to being rather intrigued to see the episode.

Work. It. Out. In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious. - People has the first look at Project Runway winner Christian Siriano's guest stint on Ugly Betty.
- Lapsed Scientologist Jason Beghe (I remember him fondly as the oft-nude star of the killer-simian thriller Monkey Shines) spilled the dirt on the group, including that they once blamed his having a gay friend for a near-fatal car accident.
- Singer Jason Mraz chatted with Out about his gay support network, "keeping his options open", and "a couple of random, random, quick gay club experiences."
Bailey Chase - Gay Episode Alert! Next week's Law & Order: SVU features a gay football player who is forced out of the closet when his partner is murdered. The boys at OutSports have the scoopage, from the source. The actor playing the footie, Bailey Chase (Saving Grace, As the World Turns), is above.

Men in Trees (ABC) 10:00 PM EDT
Mario Cantone's Terri returns in tonight's episode. He's been seen only briefly in his last few appearances and, sadly, it sounds like tonight's episode isn't much better. Sigh, and I thought Terri had so much potential as a character. Hopefully, we'll at the least get plenty of scenes of Scott Elrod shirtless, though since his character, Cash, is facing a major operation in this episode, I suspect that won't be the case.
Biography (Biography Channel) 10:00 PM EDT
The career of irreverent and controversial comedienne Sarah Silverman is the focus of tonight's profile. While overall Silverman can be considered a gay ally, she's drawn her share of controversy from a variety of groups and it'll be interesting to see how those incidents are covered.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS) 12:35 AM EDT
Craig is scheduled to talk with Project Runway winner Christian Siriano tonight. Am I just paying more attention or are we seeing Christian in more post-Runway appearances than previous winners?

Chris Marchmallow? One of the Peeps Show II finalists
- Recently out Aussie entertainer Tim Campbell has been picked as the new host of their Wheel of Fortune. An out gay man hosting a major long-running game show ... one created by Merv Griffin, no less? Crazytalk.
- Victor Garber (Alias) and Douglas Smith (Big Love) will play assassinated SF mayor George Moscone and activist Paul Hogarth, respectively, in Gus Van Sant's Milk. This site offers up some pics of each, revealing some pretty savvy casting.
- Joe.My.God. braved NYC's Union Square to celebrate National Pillow Fight Day. (Disclaimer: No pillows were bitten in the making of this video)
Fighter Shad Smith - The Times magazine ran a fascinating (and lengthy!) piece on openly gay Mixed Martial Arts fighter Shad Smith, who lives with his boyfriend, parents and brother, had 46 counts of juvenile assault on his record, and is exceedingly good at Scrabble. (via Towleroad)
- The scamps as Good As You had some fun with Focus on the Family's new customizable website.

In the annals of red carpet interview awesomeness, this has the potential to rank up there with Kathy Griffin and The Fanning Incident.
Pixie-ish Project Runway winner Christian Siriano has been tapped to be a guest correspondent for Access Hollywood at this years Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
"Christian IS fierce, fabulous and ferosh and he is a pop culture catchphrase machine," Access Hollywood supervising producer and style maven Ryan Patterson said. "He also really knows fashion — he's a style stud who will stand out on the carpet with his one-of-a-kind hairdo and electric personality and most importantly, he'll be able to spot out whose fashion is a 'hot mess' and whose fashion is 'fierce.'
If that statement isn't alarming enough, the fierce one himself chimed in with this:
"I think it's fabulous that I'll be on the red carpet checking to see if anyone is a hot tranny mess," Siriano said, borrowing one of his trademark phrases fans heard him saying on Runway. "Watch out — you know I'll be fierce with my comments."
And with that, we've reached our AfterElton limit on the "F" word. At least now, I'll have a legitimate reason to watch the Kids' Choice Awards (and keep my fingers crossed that the dreamy Drake Bell will show up ... but without that new Spring Heeled Jack look), plus the inevitable moment when Christian chirps about a certain Hot Achy-Breaky Tranny Mess.

- Probably the funniest thing I've read all week: Stuff White People Like #88: Having Gay Friends
- TIME magazine is running a readers poll of their best covers, and Ellen DeGeneres' "Yep, I'm Gay" cover is #1, with almost five times the votes of the next entry, 9/11. Take note, publishers: Gay people good, terrorism bad.
- Above, another preview clip from tomorrow's Make Me a Supermodel featuring special guest mentor ... Christian Siriano! He's there to help make their catwalks ... wait for it ... fierce.
- The Stranger's Dan Savage uses this week's column as an opportunity to answer some young readers' questions about coming out, and doesn't bother sugar-coating anything: "In two short years ... you'll be able to come out to your mom and dad - and, even better, you'll be able to tell them to suck it."

- Esquire has a new interview with George Clooney where he addresses perssitent rumors about his sexuality. Shown an online bulletin board called “George Clooney is GAY GAY GAY,” the star so “No. I’m gay, gay. The third gay - that was pushing it.”
- Brothers & Sisters returns for four new episodes starting April 20th. According to casting sides for the first new episode, "Separation Anxiety," Justin accompanies Rebecca to have a paternity test to determine if Holly's friend David (Ken Olin) is actually her father.
- Ousted American Idol contestant a spokesperson for gay rights? Kady Malloy, eliminated last week, says she never got the judge's criticism that she lacked personality. (Simon Cowell accused her of being robotic.) When asked of her post-Idol plans, she said "I definitely want to open an animal shelter and I'm definitely
going to keep working on my music. Eventually, I also want
to open up a camp for kids and I definitely want to be a spokesperson
for gay rights. My best friend is gay... I just think that you
shouldn't define somebody by their sexuality." Funny, this is not the eliminated contestant we thought would be a GLBT spokesperson!
- Like most Saturday Night Live sketches, this one goes on too long, but it's still a pretty spot-on depiction of Project Runway's Christian Siriano.

As we go into the weekend, here's a handy shortlist of the biggest stories of the week on AfterElton.com. And to get you into a playful mood, each Friday's final post will feature a pic up top that desperately needs captioning. Each week we'll pick our fave suggestion from the comments and run it in the following week's post. Have fun!
- Speculation about gay contestants on American Idol gets bigger and bigger as Danny Noriega gets cut.
- Project Runway's finale posted Bravo's best ratings 18-48. We not only spoke with winner Christian Siriano, but Chris March who came in fourth.
- Brent sacrificed himself to take a "revealing" look at the history or men's undies in the movies. Way to take one for the team, Brent! Then we both sacrificed ourselves by vlogging in our undies.
- The AfterElton Flying Monkey looked at bromances, gay subtext in cartoons and much more!
- Alec Baldwin discusses his younger, less talented, and and less good-looking younger brother's views on gay marriage.
- Of course, we recapped Torchwood even though there was no Janto action.)
- Max Mutchnick talked about Will & Grace, most notably not making straight people think about gay sex. Well, my!
- It turns out that Insightout Book Club isn't going out of business. Break out the bubbly!
- As the World Turns: Brian wonders if the show has jumped the shark and then ATWT proves him right by having Noah marry Ameera to keep her from being deported. If the Feds get wind of this, Noah might be joining his dad, Captain Pervy, in prison. Good times!
- Gay Ronnie is once again on the chopping block over on Make Me a Supermodel, but we'd bet anything he isn't going home. Prison Ben made up for last week's homophobic behavior by suggesting a little nuzzle with Ronnie. Now we forgive him.
- Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour is back for a second go around this summer.
- The U.K.'s AXM magazine asked the gays who they find hot. Personally, I think our readers have much better taste!
- And don't forget our cornucopia of vlogs including That's Antertainment!, Angry Puppy, and Idol Chat
- And as usual, with the help of Nate Berkus, As the World Turns' scoop and guessing who is gay on Pushing Daisies, ee had the Best.Gay.Week.Ever!
Finally, last we asked you to caption this photo and promised we would pick the best answer to post today. And the winner is...
"You'll never guess what's in the Secret Sauce"
Congratulations to Moviedearest! Be sure to drop your caption ideas for this week's picture in the comments, and have a great weekend!
