Les Bleus"Les Bleus" video update: The "get out your hankies" season finale
Below are the final two clips of the last season of the French cop show Les Bleus, and the drama in them puts American shows to shame. Last we left, rookie cop Kevin (magnificently played by Nicolas Gob) was trying to cope with the assault and subsequent coma of his boyfriend Yann (played by Mathieu Delarive). The first clip picks up as Yann has been unconscious for almost a week, with Kevin still keeping vigil by his bedside. His cop family is as wonderfully supportive as ever, and his mother flies in to be by his side, as well. On an American cop show, they would never delve this deep into a character's pain and anguish. They would be much too concerned with the next action scene to bother having a scene between a gay character and his mother in a hospital room. You can see the final clip after the break (and it's a doozy). Many thanks once again to ZTube31 for the translations of all these great clips. The second season is currently filming, so look for more Kevin this fall! Submitted by on Fri, 2008-05-09 11:48. "Les Bleus" video update: The "everything changes" edition
So far, we've seen the character of gay cop Kevin (played by Nicolas Gob, who's already made a few top ten lists on the new AfterElton Hot 100) come out to all of his colleagues, endure the trauma of seeing his mother date his boss, and try to maintain a relationship with an aloof boyfriend. His world is about to change forever, though. In the first of today's two clips, Kevin and his other rookie friends are having a party, and may be having a bit too rowdy of a time (please tell me that's not a stocking on Kevin's head). Once again, the sense that these young people are a "family" is evident, as they party and then get into trouble together. He then has a conversation with his two female cop friends, who offer up some very wise advice, and finally meets up with Yann (played by Mathieu Delarive). Things are going well with the two of them ... until tragedy strikes. You can see part two of this life altering event after the break. Many thanks again to ZTube31 for the translations, and be sure to tune in next week for the season finale! Submitted by on Fri, 2008-05-02 15:05. "Les Bleus" video update: "Come and knock on our porte!"
The last time was saw gay cops and lovers Kevin (played by Nicolas In the first clip, which is my favorite so far, Kevin's mother visits, which leads to all sorts of Three's Company style wacky misunderstandings (starting with her mistaking the Captain for Yann). I love that the show can engage in pure character-driven comedy occasionally instead of the constant heavy drama that cop shows in the U.S. dish out. Oh, and for no really good reason (except my enjoyment), Kevin is shirtless through most of the clip. After the break, you can see two more clips, and tune back in early next week for more. Once again, thanks to ZTube31 for the translations! Submitted by on Fri, 2008-04-25 14:00. "Les Bleus" video update: Things heat up between Kevin and Yann
Last week, we were re-introduced to the French police drama Les Bleus, and the relationship between fellow cops Kevin and Yann. In today's three clips, things get complicated between the two, as Kevin starts to wonder if they have a future (and once again, thank to ZTube31 for his hard work translating for us, and be sure to stay tuned for more clips later this week). *Note: The first clip contains strong language, and is NSFWIn this clip, Kevin is investigating something criminal in a hotel room, and decides to have a little "me time" in the bathtub, which leads to an unexpected hook-up, and then a conversation about Yann with his potentially psycho roommate. U.S. shows like NYPD Blue and The Shield occasionally flirt with partial nudity, but nothing like Nicolas Gob and his towel tease... Submitted by on Mon, 2008-04-21 15:30. The French gay cops of "Les Bleus", now translated for our viewing pleasure
Last month, we blogged about the French police show Les Bleus, and the burgeoning relationship between two of its characters: the rookie cop Kévin, played by Nicolas Gob , and the older cop Yann, played by Mathieu Delarive. Unfortunately, because the show was in French, much of the nuances of the relationship were lost in lack of translation (and Babelfish just wasn't cutting it). Now, however, ZTube31 is translating all the scenes on the show with Kevin & Yann, and we can finally see the story from the beginning. Here are the first 3 translated clips, and stay tuned for more We start with the first meeting between Kevin (a young rookie who is sensitive, smart, and sexy as hell), and the slightly dangerous older cop, Yann. There's an instant rapport between the two, and Yann asks Kevin out to dinner. He sure ain't Sipowicz! Speaking of which, I can't tell you how exciting it is to see gay men in a cop show who are NOT playing victims or killers. American television has been sorely lacking in that department with so few gay detectives or cops you can count them on one hand. Kyle Secor's bisexual detective Timothy Bayliss on Homicide: Life on the Streets being one of the rare examples. And it's not an unimportant thing. By having gay people always being victims or criminals on these shows it reinforces our status as others and different. Too bad we have to watch French shows to see something different. BTW, there is some NSFW language in the last clip, so beware!" See more clips exploring the relationship of Kevin & Yann after the break Submitted by on Thu, 2008-04-17 17:05. "Les Bleus", the cop show with a French twist. Oui, oui!
Cop shows in the U.S. have sometimes featured regular gay characters, like Julien in The Shield and John in NYPD Blue, but the French series Les Bleus has taken the next step by making a lead character gay, and actually given him a love interest. Nicolas Gob plays rookie cop Kévin, who falls in love with fellow cop Yann, played by Mathieu Delarive. The clips I've seen so far have been sweet and effective, and even though they're in French, it's easy to get the gist of what's going on, and I find myself making up my own dialogue (I knew I should've taken French in High School, but I took two years of Pig Latin instead...Rap-Cay!) I've chosen a few clips from Blog Gayclic.com, and thanks to the magic of Babelfish, have translated their helpful descriptions of each one. Normally, I'd rewrite into proper English, but there is something charming and fun about the way it is translated. You can see more clips of Kevin and Yann after the jump, and many thanks to AfterElton.com reader Enno for the tip about this great show! Beautiful surprise Wednesday evening by discovering (a little by chance) the new police series of M6, "the Blue ones. First steps in the police force ". Not only this series is well carried out and played well (what is limiting suspect for a French series), and in more one of its principal characters, Kévin, is gay... and rather nice! :o) Carried of Kévin: Originating in the Basque Country, Kévin dreamed to become CRS of beach, but it landed in a police station in full heart of Paris. Fan of musculation, it hides under his biscotos a a little naive heart, to tend a little too much. The girls adore it, especially Laura, but it is gay. Not easy in a medium like that of the police force. Often awkward, too timid, Kévin will have much evil to find its place in the medium of its brigade. But if it hates the brawl, it will never deflate. In the second episode Kévin makes the knowledge of Yann, a cop of the VAT, which invites it to dine... Here the extract below.
