In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Yesterday some notable celebrities turned out for the premiere of Breakfast with Scot at LA’s Outfest film festival. Is it possible for T.R. Knight and Mark Cornelson to be any cuter together?  Click on thumbnails below to view more pics.
  • ...and speaking of T.R. & Mark, actually it is possible for them to be even cuter together. The Socialite’s Life has a number of photos of the couple taking their dogs for a spin in LA. You can check them out here.
  • Some juicy tidbits are coming out regarding Christopher Ciccone’s unauthorized Madonna tell-all available this coming Tuesday, July 15th. Apparently, Christopher and his older sister haven’t been close since she married Guy Ritchie.
”Ciccone describes Ritchie as a man's man undisturbed by homophobic humor, whose emergence in Madonna's life marks 'the death knell' of the Ciccones' brother-sister bond.”
Uh, what Ciccone says about Guy Ritchie may indeed be true, but I would say the “death knell” of his relationship with his sister has to be the publication of this book. I mean, my sister would kill me. And rightfully so.

  • According to USA Today, a Michigan man is suing two Bible publishers for seventy million dollars. His claim is that their versions of the Bible refer to homosexuality as a sin, and in doing so violate his constitutional rights, causing him emotional pain and mental instability. This case is almost certain to be dismissed before it goes to trial, but still it's a pretty interesting suit, and you gotta admire the guy's chutzpah for bringing it to court. (He's acting as his own attorney in the matter.) Hey, if he wins this case, I say we go after King James next.

  • The 8th Annual Trevor Project Gala in NYC drew celebs like Sandra Bernhard, Idina Menzel, Rosie Perez, Alan Cumming, Michael Urie, George Takei, Lisa Lampanelli, Gideon Glick, Adamo Ruggiero, and more. The organization helps gay and questioning youth who are at risk of suicide.
  • Logoonline is running a feature on the 50 Best Gay Bars in America. #3 Happens to be in my neighborhood (no, I had no part in making the list!) and I couldn't agree more with the kind words about Garry, Metropolitan's chipper tapper. Congrats!
  • Starting Thursday, the London Eye will be illuminated in rainbow colors to celebrate London Pride.

Pop! Quiz: How much would you pay to see Madonna?

The other day in the middle of a conversation with a friend I had an unfamiliar experience: I had sticker shock on someone else's behalf. See, my friend had just revealed to me that he paid what he considered to be a steal for a ticket to see Madonna at Madison Square Garden.

The ticket cost?

$180.

Not even taking into consideration the fact that I wouldn't turn around to see Madonna, that's a preposterous amount of money to pay to see someone whose life and various faces have received more coverage than the Iraq War. Is there really anything more to see?

I see plenty of live music and I think $50 (which I paid to see Feist recently) is even a bit much to ask for ninety minutes of pop music in venue overpacked with paying patrons (that said, Feist was amazing and totally worth suffering the drunk people next to me and the Dutch tourist who kept kicking the back of my seat). Has my indie rock upbringing jaded me on big-ticket shows, or is Madonna really as much of a money-grubbing Planet Eater as I think she is?

AfterElton Briefs: Madonna's bro spills the beans, and more!

Gay-fave Julie Brown brings the "camp" to the premiere of Camp Rock

  • You know, it's been faaaaar too long since we checked in with Cute with Chris, the utterly gonzo kittens-and-masochism pie hosted by Chris Leavins (star of the fantastic The Hanging Garden). In recent months Chris hasbeen posting viewer-submitted pics of shirtless men (some with pets, some without), which lends another wonderfully troubling dimension to what is still the most addictive show on the Interwebs.
  • Oh, brother: Madonna's gay sibling Christopher Ciccone to write a scathing tell-all about his famous sister. I don't know what's more confusing, the idea that one bitter sibling would do that to another, or the suggestion that there's anything left to tell about the most overexposed person in the history of the universe.
John and Colin from NewNowNext
  • Our brother site NewNowNext has been nominated for an HX Award (HX is an NYC gay nightlife mag) and you should totally vote for them. Yay John, Colin, and crew!
  • Time has an interesting article about the positive economic impact the gay marriage window (pre-November, when things might change) will have on California, and does everything but urge gay couples from other states to go to Palm Springs, get married, and after their honeymoons, sue for recognition in their home state. Book it!
Ryan Reynolds and Scott Thompson at the Genie Awards a few years back
  • Happy birthday to Scott Thompson! The Kids in the Hall star turns 49 today. I wonder if fellow Canadian Ryan Reynolds will give him another kiss on the occasion?
  • Reality show laughingstock and pig vagina gourmet Tila Tequila credits herself for the overturn of the same-sex marriage ban in California. I credit her for the overturn of my breakfast.

From shoulder pads to Manolo Blahniks: When Fashion Attacks!

To herald the arrival of NewNowNext Design, mama Logo's new style and fashion site, we thought we would look back at some of the most dubious fashion trends perpetrated by TV, movies, and music. Now, keep in mind that I'm one of those gays who has absolutely no fashion sense myself, so instead of calling these "bad" fashion trends, let's just call them ... "memorable".

Aerobics chic
As perpetrated by: Flashdance

The 1983 hit Flashdance gave us plenty to squeal about: the classic soundtrack, with Giorgio Moroder at his most 80's, the introduction of future L Word icon Jennifer Beals, and a fashion statement that would soon have millions of women showing up at the aerobics studio in leg warmers and ripped sweatshirts. Even Snoopy was a maniac on the floor, starring in the Peanuts special It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown.

$400 shoes
As perpetrated by: Sex and the City

They're just shoes. They perform the same function as my Payless Clearance Special, but for some reason they cost $400. I'm talking, of course, about Manolo Blahniks, the Holy Grail of Carrie Bradshaw and thousands of other sexy single girls. Who needs things like heat, and food, and shelter when you can spend a week's paycheck on an ugly, uncomfortable piece of plastic?

Men in pastels
As perpetrated by: Miami Vice

Pastels. I still see them in my nightmares. Miami Vice taught us that men can look like "Party Mints" and still be macho and tough! And that rolled up jacket sleeves never lead to permanent wrinkles, and no one ever has sweat stains in South Florida.

See more memorable fashion trends after the break!

Leona Lewis “Better in Time” Video
The X-Factor winner follows up her smash “Bleeding Love” track with another lovely power-ballad:

Madonna wants to make you fashionable

Check out the ad for Madonna's new clothing line for Britain's HM department stores. She plays a sort of dominatrix -- something she's done before to good effect (circa "Erotica".) Its a really playful, sexy commercial -- although for the life of me I don't know what it says about the actual clothes she's selling. Oh who cares -- anything to see our Madge slapping people and brandishing a riding crop.
