Grey's gay tumor epidemic, "gay-friendly" turns desperate, Scotty & Kevin should have waited a month, and more!

Neil Patrick Harris nominated for People's Choice Award

The nominees for the 34th Annual People's Choice Awards were announced last night, and among them is out actor Neil Patrick Harris, in the "Favorite Scene Stealing Star" category. He's up against Chandra Wilson of Grey's Anatomy and Richard Belzer of Law & Order: SVU. Needless to say, it would be awesome to have an out, proud actor win a popular vote like this one, so be sure to click the link at the bottom and cast your ballot! Here's a rundown of the other gay-significant noms...

Celebrities:
Gay-faves Sally Field and Katherine Heigl nabbed noms for "Favorite Female TV Star", Jodie Foster is nominated for "Favorite Female Action Star" and Queen Latifah and Drew Barrymore are nominated for "Favorite Leading Lady". Ellen, Whoopi, and Wanda Sykes make "Favorite Funny Female Star" the best category of the bunch, by far.

Television:
Dirty Sexy Money and Pushing Daisies, which both have gay creators, are up for "Favorite New Drama Series", and out producer Russell T Davies' Doctor Who is up for "Favorite Sci-Fi Series".

Movies:
Recently outed wizard Albus Dumbledore appears in "Favorite Movie Drama" nominee Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and homophobic pigfest Wild Hogs somehow made it into the "Favorite Movie Comedy" category. Likewise, homophobic yet sure-to-win 300 pops up in the "Favorite Action Movie" noms.

Afterthought: I find it interesting that 2 out of 3 "Favorite On-Screen Duo" noms are bromances (Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker and George Clooney/Brad Pitt) and the third, Tobey Maguire/Kirsten Dunst, acted more like they were going through a messy divorce than like lovers in Spiderman 3. Where's the romance?

For all the nominees - and more importantly, to vote yourself (go, NPH!) - head on over to the official website. The winners will be announced on January 8th in a broadcast hosted by Queen Latifah.

  • WGA strike update: More stars turn out in support

Just a quick update on the writers' strike:

    It's still on.

More stars have come out in support of their writers and showrunners (many of whom, like Marc Cherry and Greg Berlanti, joined the line earlier this week), including some folks in NYC, who picketed outside the Time Warner Center. The tourists shopping at Williams-Sonoma were no doubt thrilled to see some of their favorite stars chanting angrily outside as they browsed $80 colanders.

Sad news for Brothers & Sisters and Dirty Sexy Money fans: at this rate B&S's last ep will be the 12th, titled "The Missionary Imposition" (hmmm... wonder what that might be about?) and DSM's will be the 11th. That would mean both shows would end right after Christmas.

We've got a very cold January ahead, kids...

Sneak peek at Sunday's new Brothers & Sisters episode

    ***Mild Spoiler Alert***

The second episode of Brothers & Sisters airing this Sunday has Nora (Sally Field), Kitty (Calista Flockhart) and Kevin (Matthew Rhys) on a Walker family road trip to pick up brother Justin.

Me, I love it when they take these road trips as Kevin always finds a way to have a good time. Remember that nice young GI Kevin met when they took that drive up to Nevada? This latest trip causes some serious strain on Kitty's relationship with the Senator though. Somehow the Walkers managed to make the news again and overshadow the Senator's campaign:

McAllister: You called Abraham Lincoln a homosexual!
Kitty: Well technically that was Kevin. But what would you do if he were? Would you dismiss his whole entire presidency?
McAllister: That's not the point.... As my communications director can you mind telling me how long its going to be until we can go back to talking about the issues instead of your family?

Uhm, this being Brothers & Sisters, he bettter not hold his breath. We've got the full preview clip from ABC after the break

Justin’s out of touch, Kevin's out of sorts, and Sarah's out of dryer sheets.
