In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious. - Good news for Noah's Arc fans! The feature NA film, Jumping the Broom, will hit theaters October 24th (in limited distribution, natch). For updates and cities, check out the movie's website.
- This Out article about the first gay couple to be married in Palm Springs is classic rubbernecking material. Wait, Paul and Dean think that leather guys, drag queens and transgender individuals are "bad examples" of the LGBT community ... while they're the ones getting photographed wearing matching doily-pants?
- By contrast, this interview from the L.A. Times with Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler about their upcoming wedding is positively charming. (Like we expected less.)
The engaging (and engaged) Adler and Doonan - I guess this is hardly news, but I think Morrissey needs a hug.
- Always-entertaining out NBA Hall of Famer John Amaechi is blogging from Beijing, giving a rare gay's-eye view of the Olympics.

A Jihad for Love, an award-winning film about the lives of gay Muslims, opens in NYC this week
- American Idol roundup: Here's out pop star George Michael's performance of "Praying for Time". Defamer asks what exactly it was that Robert Downey, Jr. did to Jack Black aboard that Midnight Train to Georgia ...
- And this video of Freak Show author James St. James riling up the fans waiting outside last night's American Idol finale is the last thing we'll say about the show today. Because really, someone telling a teenaged girl that she's a "child molester" for having a crush on David Archuleta is pretty much the last word on the matter.
- The UK Fire Minister is launching a program to recruit more gays and lesbians for the fire bridage. One, this is fabulous and not anything I can even imagine happening here in the States. And two, I have your solution: hire Michael Biserta.
Heaven knows he's one year closer to miserable now... - "I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday ..." (Morrissey turns 49 today)
- The NewNowNext boys sat down with Jason Preston (Marc Jacobs's on-again, off-again boyfriend) to set the record straight. (They're off-again.)
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

John Hurt as Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant
In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- In conjunction with their Andy Warhol: Dead at 25 art exhibit, the scamps at World of Wonder have put up a charming tribute to Factory girl and cult film icon Mary Woronov, who will be appearing in person at tonight's opening party. (This may be the first time I've ever wished I lived in L.A.)
Jason Lewis (with Matthew Rhys in Brothers & Sisters)
- A pic of Jason Lewis's mudflap has leaked from the set of the Sex and the City movie ... not that anyone here would be interested in such a thing.
- Don't forget to read all about the new gay indie pic Shelter (among other things) in Michael's piping-hot Best.Gay.Week.Ever! column, and we'll see you Monday morning! (Your turn to bring the donuts, mkay?)
- EDITOR'S UPDATE: AfterElton reader and resident ATWT expert Anthony just let us know that SoapOperaWeekly is asking their readers if Luke and Noah should get more physical. Why not hop over there and vote now!

Cheyenne Jackson in The Agony and the Agony
In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious. - Anyone want to hear Cheyenne Jackson read aloud from the autobiography of Mr. T, Tommy Lee, or Elizabeth Taylor? He'll be participating in the Celebrity Autobiography series starting January 28th, so you just might have the chance!
- We know you've already sent a mountain of chocolate to CBS in support of As the World Turns' Luke and Noah, but if you have a second it wouldn't hurt to fill out the net's latest soap poll and give a boost to everyone's favorite Alpha Daytime Gay Teen Couple.
- It's been rumored that Morrissey's management has said that they are trying to secure playdates for the crooner in Tehran, where homosexuality is punishable by death. Well then it's a darn good thing he's not gay or anything, huh?
- This is probably the awesomest digital photo craze since StuffonMyCat: Sleevefacing. Someone please break out their Grace Jones vinyl and send us some snaps!! (tip of the bowler to the kids at WorldofWonder for the lead.)
- Brit wit Stephen Fry isn't sure why straight actors are lauded for their bravery when they have on-screen gay kisses when gay actors are expected to kiss women like there's nothing wrong with it, adding, "I'll kiss a frog if you like."

In discussing his latest movie, Balls of Fury, Thomas Lennon told the New York Metro that he and Robert Ben Garant (who also wrote Reno 911!, A Night at the Museum and Let's Go to Prison) are working on I've Changed My Plea to Guilty, a "jukebox musical" that will, in the tradition of Mama Mia! and We Will Rock You, incorporate the music of a single artist ... in this case, Morrissey. "It's for a very die hard set of fans," Lennon said. This could just be a joke or just brilliant ... but I'm curious to find out what will motivate a character to burst into a performance of "Everyday is like Sunday" or "November Spawned a Monster".

A look at how coming out has affected the success of gay musicians.
- Crooner Morrissey has his burial spot picked out, and he's spent time there. Why are we not surprised? Well, at least now when that double-decker bus comes along, he'll be ready.
- The Washington Blade wants you to boycott Hairspray -- not because it's bad for the ozone layer, but because star John Travolta's Scientologist views are anti-gay. I'd like to say that I'm already boycotting Travolta's films for this very reason ... but in reality, he just hasn't made anything worth seeing in over a decade.
- Freshly Knocked Up Katherine Heigl will be back on Grey's Anatomy as Izzie. Although wouldn't it be funnier if she were back as Isaiah Washington's recently-vacated character?
- Are the Tonys a more gay-partner-thanking-friendly occasion than other awards shows? Does the invite make that clear?
- Have yourself a fart-filled, homophobic little Christmas: Larry the Cable Guy gets his own Christmas special ... on VH1? Remember when they used to like gay people?

Considering how beautiful the weekend is supposed to be here in New York City, the only way you're getting me in front of a television is if it's in the window of a Best Buy facing a public park. Wait -- Morrissey??!! Friday
Acceptable TV (VH1) 10:00PM EDT Gayliens! Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC) 12:05AM EDT (early Saturday) The last of the famous international playboys himself (Morrissey) performs on Kimmel. Put on your mopiest outfit and enjoy. Saturday The 18th Annual GLAAD Media Awards (Logo) 9:00PM EDT Filmed at the ceremonies in NYC and Los Angeles, this star-studded media event is pretty much the gayest show in town. Too many stars to mention, but folks from pretty much all our favorite shows and movies were there. Sunday The Amazing Race (CBS) 8:00PM EDT Gay BFFs Danny and Oswald are still in the competition. And that's "Best Friends Forever", you pervs...
