Barbara WaltersElton John, Grey's cast make Forbes Celeb 100 Forbes just released their Celebrity 100 (aka: 100 people whose holiday card lists you are most certainly not on), and there are a few gay big hitters in the bunch. The list measures the world's most powerful and best-paid celebrities using a secret formula that factors earnings, media metrics, press mentions, and overall zestiness. Elton John placed at #7, nestled between Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise (where John has likely imagined himself nestled many times before), moving up from #12 on last year's list. The collective Grey's Anatomy cast, like some kind of white-coated, passive-aggressive Voltron, hit the list at #12. This was due no doubt to their frequent press mentions after the Isaiah Washington incident (I hope they send him a thank-you card) as well as their savvy contract negotiations for the next season. Gay-faves Oprah and Madonna are at the top (at #s 1 and 3, respectively), the cast of Desperate Housewives appears later in the list, as do Tyra Banks (#61) and Barbara Walters (#75, right below confirmed drug fiend Kate Moss -- atta girl, Barb!). But wait -- is that Larry the Cable Guy at #81? Watch out for raining frogs, folks -- this is gonna get ugly. Check it out. But be warned: the list has the most annoying, slow-loading ad I've ever seen on every page. What the hell is a Vertu, anyway? I'm not waiting to find out. Submitted by on Fri, 2007-06-15 09:05. The View on why some folks think Hugh Jackman is gay
Rosie O'Donnell may be off The View, but that doesn't mean everything gay is gone from the show. Case in point was Friday's episode which briefly turned into a discussion about why some folks believe Hugh Jackman is gay. The ladies were actually discussing the phenomenon of unattractive but wealthy men who are married to beautiful when suddenly Joy asked:
Barbara Walters: Really? He must be miserable? Imagine his poor wife, Deborra-Lee Furness having to hear she's not at his "level". Sheesh, I hope she wasn't watching the show. I've heard both reasons given by folks who think Jackman is really gay, though it's usually gay men who offer up the "unattractive wife" theory and silly straight folks who think playing gay means you really are gay. Jackman is usually linked to his longtime assistant John Palermo with whom he and Jackman's wife had started a production company. As evidence, folks frequently cite the fact that Jackman and Palermo reportedly exchanged rings engraved with the word unity, but according to Wikipedia, Furness also received a ring and it was to celebrate their company. Maybe the rumors had something to do with same-sex kiss being removed when the show landed in Australia. After the jump you'll see a clip from Jackman's new drama Viva Laughlin. It may just be me, but I'm suddenly a little more confident we'll be seeing Eric Winter back on Brothers & Sisters this fall. Submitted by on Mon, 2007-06-04 11:12. Barbara Walters' 20/20 special on transgendered childrenIn last week's BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER column I mentioned how moved I was by Barbara Walters' 20/20 special on transgendered children. I've been waiting for it to show up on YouTube and it finally has. I'm posting the first clip and you can see the rest here. It truly is a great hour of television and reminds me of the good that can be done when huge ratings and profits aren't the only motivation to what ends up on the air. Frankly, this should be required viewing in every health class around the country. I think that this topic is really only shocking the first time you ever hear about it and once it's been explained, it really is no big deal. Kudos to Barbara for using her clout to explain it.

It's the BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER MAY 4!This week's BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER! buzzes all over the place from Coachella, CA to Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theater to twenty years ago when Bob Hope was the 80's version of Isaiah Washington. (Kinda sad, actually.) I got lots of pictures of gay, bi, and maybe gay (or bi) boys from the Coachella Music Festival which looks like it was great fun. I also give kudos to Barbara Walters for using her star power to shed light on the issues faced by transgendered kids. I'm talking like six year old transgendered kids. Rosie did something similar for teenagers when she hosted a discussion panel in New York for teens that consisted of teens starring in the smash hit Broadway musical Spring Awakenings and from The N's Degrassi: The Next Generation. Not only did it address gay issues, but out actor Gideon Glick was one of those on the panel. Are you looking for a special deal on stupidity? Why you're in luck as the American Not that I'm bitter or anything. Now that's off my chest, I thought I'd share some just released pics from "Matriarchy", the season finale for Brothers & Sisters. Got a couple of nice ones of Jason McCallister (Eric Winter), Kevin's (Matthew Rhys) latest love interest. Haven't seen enough of Eric to know if he's a good fit for Kevin or the show, but he's might purty to look at!
Hmm, doesn't look like their whispering sweet nothings to each other. That's not good.
Work that stubble, Baby!
What are you doing still here? It's nice outside! Go enjoy the weekend! (But come back Sunday night in case I plant one on Kevin!) Or check out our recap of last week's episode! Submitted by on Fri, 2007-05-04 21:52. |
