Videodrama: All Harry Potter edition

Given the response to yesterday's spoilery post on Harry Potter (which has details about the last book, so be careful!), we thought we'd post some other Harry-related materials here and let those who don't want the big fancy ending of the lovable teen pagan saga ruined discuss the rest of the series here. So if you wanna chat HP movies or general stuff not directly related to the epic ending where Ron has to save Harry and Hermione from the Nazis by opening the Ark of the Covenant (oops!), feel free to do so below -- and in the meantime, enjoy these goodies!

  • Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Dance Team dance an enthusiastic (and elaborate!) routine to "Holdin' On for a Hero," "Beat It," and "Let's Hear it For the Boy." Yes, it is as awesome as it sounds.
  • From The Soup: Gay Harry Potter. "Don't ask, don't spell."

Videodrama: Anually Retentive's gay character

One of our delightful readers across the pond tipped us off to a gay storyline in the Brit comedy Annually Retentive. Russell Tovey (best known as sporty Rudge from The History Boys) plays Ben, the new producer on the show-within-a-show. He's gay and masculine, which no one seems to be able to wrap their head around, and he seems get get a real kick out of messing with star Rob Brydon. A bit sociopathic, perhaps, but definitely a power shift from the norm!

  1. Ben is caught macking with another man (played by fellow History Boy James Corden) by the game show's host, Rob Brydon (perhaps best know Stateside as playing Roman de Vere -- the ex-hubby of spa-crazed Bubbles de Vere -- in Little Britain)
  2. A really creepy phonecall in which Ben comforts Rob
  3. Ben freaks out Rob with a totally counterfeit story about his first time
  4. No Ben in this one, but it's funny: Brydon discusses getting a wig with his makeup artist.

Videodrama: John Barrowman on the Friday Night Project

I'd never heard of the Friday Night Project before I came across these clips from the British show, which looks to be a far superior version of Saturday Night Live. It's only two guys (versus SNL's hordes), but they do skits, spoof the news and make all sorts of very funny double entendres. Naturally, with John Barrowman on the show, much of the humor is gay, but unlike SNL (at least the last time I watched) the humor isn't at our expense, and we're in on the jokes. Here is a pic of John in drag which, thankfully, only happened once.

One of my favorite bits is when John (star of the BBC America series Torchwood) explains whether he would rather sleep with a man, a woman or E.T. Let's just say his answer isn't entirely safe for work. Actually, much of the show isn't safe for work, but it's worth watching if you know the boss isn't around! John also talks about snogging Cher, an audience member asks if he's ever "done it with a woman", and another dares him to show "his bum." How come the Brits get to have so much more fun than we do?

(BTW, there is a fifth clip over on YouTube that is the final segment of the show.)

Videodrama: All Catherine Tate edition

In today's Videodrama we're pleased to present an All Catherine Tate edition. It seems that the comic from the UK has been running a "Gay Johnny" storyline on her sketch comedy show, and it's pretty funny. Check out the four clips below to get up to speed (warning: the last clip has a bit of "language" at the end). Big thanks to Gareth for the tip!

Videodrama: Steve Jones kisses Jake Shears

Can someone explain to me what it is about Welshmen? They're hot, they've got a crazy (and occasionally indecipherable) accent, and they seem oddly at ease with their sexuality -- I mean, first there's Matthew Rhys of Brothers & Sisters, and now there's talk show host Steve Jones macking it with Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters:

Jones refers to two men kissing as "masculine" (heck yeah!) and is kind enough to rate Shears highly on his smooching skills. More Welshmen! More Welshmen!

Videodrama: Dancing cowboys, exercising models, and more

  • It's Raining 300 Men. Much funnier than it has any right to be.
  • A hilarious drunk-driving cowboy sobriety test from Reno: 911!
  • George Takei enthusiasts practice their "Sulu Dance" routine for Pride
  • Ford model Chris Comfort shows us his favorite push-up exercises. We know it's hard to pay attention, but it's for your health.

Videodrama: Z-list Kathy Griffin, fat cats, and more

  • Cute with Chris is officially the only conduit through which I ever want to hear about Paris Hilton again. Ever. "I need creeeeeeeeeeam!"
  • An obscenely fat, dancing cat. Gotta love Japan.
  • A great, creepy short film starring gay hottie Cheyenne Jackson called Curiosity
  • Kathy Griffin long before she made the D-List, in Julie Brown's Madonna spoof Medusa: Dare to be Truthful

Videodrama: Broadway Bares, musical sitcoms, and more

  • If you haven't seen our article on Broadway Bares, check it out -- as well as the clip below of out actor Christopher Sieber (who once played the Olsen twins' father!) and his partner Kevin Burrows getting down and dirty for a good cause.
  • Dreamgirls' "Family" co-opted for shameless 1986 sitcom plug. Awesome. (t/y WOW Report)
  • Donna Summer performing at Orlando Gay Days 2007
  • In case you missed it, the gayest Tonys opening ever.

Videodrama: David Blaine's gay magic, Reichen, and E.J.

Okay, this is just kind of weird, but it's a Friday, so we'll go for it.

Here's a parody of David "street magic" Blaine as he systematically freaks out two gay guys (and its sequel). Now, considering that the video is making fun of Blaine more than his victims, it's really pretty funny and hard to find really that offensive -- although the credit listing of "Idiot 1 and Idiot 2" isn't really very nice.

Still, it'll have you screaming "WHAT THE EFF?!?" for hours, I guarantee. Language NSFW.

Also, a clip of a young Reichen (not that he's old now or anything) as a hunky delivery man on The Drew Carey Show (wait -- is that skinny woman the lady with one arm from The Riches?).

But wait -- there's more! Also, that crazy E.J. from So You Think You Can Dance?. That guy can shake it!

  • Videodrama: Dinner with Charles, Kevin and Jason's kiss, and more

In today's video round-up we've got a Match Game reunion (in memory of the late, great Charles Nelson Reilly), Kevin and Jason's pantry makeout session from Brothers & Sisters, a saucy and cute French music video with a twist ending (t/y Francois), and a home movie of a dinner at Charles Nelson Reilly's house in 2000. Enjoy!
