Five things...

1. Would someone kindly tell me location of the Temple of Nick Adams, I would like to worship there.

2. Mo Rocca looks surprisingly great bare.

3. Why my football fantasies ended up on stage?

4. There was not a bare Chris Sieber to be found. Sigh.

5. Im with Jamie, who is the very hirsute Iphone app?

Great coverage guys. ;-)

Great pics

As much as I enjoy all the pics (which I do :D), I think my favorite pictures are the ones where you can see the audience's reactions/expressions. Definitely like the picture on page 4 of the jocks grabbing each others' jocks.

You Prove You Love Us By Posting These Pics...

1. Add me to the list of people who'd like to know who the hairy guy is.

2. Also wishing Chris Sieber had bared a little more. But I never notice the guns he had before. Yowza.

3. I feel stupid asking this, but...is Mo Rocca gay, or just gay-friendly? I've never been quite clear about him.

What a group

Norm Lewis...I know he's a Broadway name, but I remember him from TV too. He's not a young guy, so that body is DAMN! Mo Rocca...talk about random. Good for him for being brave enough to show something, although he annoys me. My favorite part of this is always when guys are slowly stripped out of their clothes. The football stuff looks like a new, and hot, twist on the theme.

DOUBLE STICK TAPE

Has never been put to better use.  What an awesome show.

This lezzie is having serious "how gay boys do charity" envy. I'm not gonna lie.

I know there are lots of super serious, clothed charity events but I just love the concept of Broadway Bares so much.

What a great way to raise funds and have fun and take the concept of "sex sells" to a whole other level.

I hope they keeping it going for many many years to come.

Also, who knew Mo Rocca has all that going on?!  I always thought of him as kind of gangly under all those sweater vests. Guess not.

Way to represent for the sexy nerdy boys Mo!

You sure this was Broadway Bares?

Because I have the suspicion is was my fantasies acted out on stage. Must know who teasing football jock is, but count me out of the line up for hairy guy, I like my men smooth, though he does have a nice smile.

Hard to find

This looks like a fun hot night in NYC! My only complaint with Broadway Bares is how hard it is to get older additions of the show on DVD. I finally tracked down my favorite on eBay, but I doubt any of my money went to help AIDS charities. Do they even sell the DVD's in large numbers?

Broadway Bares 2009 - Video Highlights - BUY THE DVD

This channel has a selected clips of performances from the show.

Just a taste: http://www.youtube.com/user/mattrett

IF you buy the DVD your money still helps out the charity.

Help?

Maybe I'm just totally missing it but I don't see anywhere on the BroadwayBares site to actually purchase the DVD of this years event or any past events. The "shop" icon takes you to BroadwayCares, which doesn't sell the DVDs. What gives?

Broadway Cares Sells Broadway Bares Thru Broadway Beats

I'm not sure why but you have to click around a bit once you log into Broadway Bares (restricted for adult content so you have to create a username and enter an email address)

But here's the direct link to the distributor:

BROADWAY CARES MAIN STORE:

Please Note: BC/EFA does not sell DVDs of their events. However, they are sold by Broadway Beat.

BROADWAY BEAT

http://www.broadwaybeat.com/BCEFAorder.jpg

This takes you to a jpeg of the Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS DVD Order Form .

You can order by fax or mail. A very windy path but glad they sell them.

Maybe someone here who has ordered stuff can speak to the ordering process as well.

Thanks!

Thanks for figuring this out! Seems overly confusing to me. Shouldn't you just be able to buy them from the site directly? Anyway, I need to go dust off my fax machine... :P

Broadway Bares

More to the point, if they WERE going to farm out the DVD sales to a third party, shouldn't it be one that has mastered such basic web presence as online purchase?

My guess is that they've had an arrangement with this company/organization that goes back to before there was a significant merchandising income from BB, and it was probably a very obscure little deal.  Probably time to reassess that.

The website is even more confusing than that, though.  There's a "current" order form that includes the last few BB performances for sale.  There's an form for older content that you write in what you want.  It also specifies that not everything on the site is actually available for purchase (!), and doesn't tell you what is or isn't.  I'd assume the older BB shows are, since the newer ones are, but it would be nice to know for sure before I fax/mail in an order.

It also has a line for VHS/DVD.  Does that mean they're all available in both (in which case, I'm guessing it's a POD system)?  Or are some available in both, but not others (are the really old things only available in VHS?

I'd like to order something, but geez, is this a mess.

Correction

Correcting myself.  The "older material" form is only for episodes of Broadway Beat, whatever that is.  So apparently the only Broadway Bares avaialbe are the four available on the main form.

I'm still going to lay the problem at the feet of the over-complicated website and ordering system, though.

And they're listing last year's show as "New!" on the order form, so it may be a while for this year's to show up there.

Frustrating

You summed up how I feel about the whole process! It's not 1998 anymore BroadwayBares! How much MORE money could they be raising with these events if they were properly sold? I had to get a copy off of eBay and god knows if it was an original or a fake. Maybe the nature of the show and all the naked flesh make it harder to sell? I wouldn't classify these as porn or anything, but maybe its all the red tape around selling "adult content"? Perhaps since so many ppl are involved in these events they dont want to sell to a mass audience for fear of lawsuits filed by dancers/actors who want paid for their appearances? Just speculating, because selling these on the BB website would make a killing and help a good cause!
RP's picture

They Do Not Sell the DVDs

Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS does not sell ANY COPIES of ANY of the Events on DVD EVER, the events are on DVD for archive purposes and that is it, if you see a copy on E Bay or anywhere else it is someone  not with BC/EFA or Broadway Bares who has managed to get a copy and none of the money you spend on it will be going to help any of the charity at all. no one should be selling it on line...

Dave Doty's picture

Then someone needs to tell

Then someone needs to tell Broadway Bares that they don't sell any DVDs ever, since their own official website, in the store section, says "se Note: BC/EFA does not sell DVDs of their events. However, they are sold by Broadway Beat. CLICK HERE to check out their DVD selection!"

Is the official Broadway Bares site directing people to a pirating service?

nordic balance's picture

BROADWAY BEAT is an NYC Weekly Television Show

Broadway beat is also the distributer of BC/EFA videos and DVDs. There's nothing "pirate" about it.

Both the Broadway Cares and Broadway.com websites establish this fact.

It explicitly states on the order form (linked from the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS merchandise page) that all the profits go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids when you buy the DVDs/Videos from Broadway Beat. Seems clear to me.

I only took the time to figure it out because it is an important charity to me.
