TV on Tap: B.D. Wong Exits "SVU," Bianca Lawson Plans a "Pretty Little Liars" Return and Felicia Day Arrives in "Eureka"

Thom Filicia joins the Design Star judges' table tonight.

News

Hopefully, you'll like Dillon Casey when he makes his appearance on Torchwood this week as Captain Jack's one-night stand. The Canadian actor has also booked a regular gig next season on Nikita, where he'll have the unenviable task of bringing that show's hot-guy quotient up to the level of its Friday night companion series Supernatural. Casey's Nikita character sounds interesting: he'll play an operative agent tasked with retrieving the Division's black boxes while also keeping an eye on how the shadowy agency works under the management of Amanda (Melinda Clarke, who keeps reminding me how Anne Bancroft was the only part of The Point of No Return worth watching).

In further hottie casting news, Mike Vogel is joining the cast of Pan Am, taking over the role played by Jonah Lotan in the original pilot.

This weekend, B. D. Wong tweeted that he won't be returning to Law & Order: SVU this season since he's got a role in the highly-anticipated Awake. However, he's not sure if his character will return for a goodbye appearance.

Can you handle having something in common with Eric Cartman? If that's the case, you'll soon be able to demand some Cheesy Poofs, though you'll have to go to a Walmart to buy them.

You can add Friday Night Lights to the list of TV series with a devoted fanbase and rumors of a potential big screen version.

Here's some news that will divide Pretty Little Liars fans: Bianca Lawson is returning to the series in the this season's eleventh episode as Emily's ex-girlfriend Maya. (The actress also played Vampire Slayer Kendra on Buffy way back in 1997.) Maya exited Liars last season when she got sent to juvie camp, and I had a bad feeling the camp had an ex-gay counciling cabin. I guess now we'll find out if that's the case. Either way, I hope Maya will offer Emily more than a bit of closure.

For me, one of the interesting things about Big Brother is watching the ratings. Since the show is put together days before it airs, a drop in ratings is a sign you should expect some kind of silly twist. Don't expect a shake-up anytime soon, however. The first elimination episode was down 18% from the premiere, but it still was the most-watched show of the night and is even from last year.

Listings

Eureka (Syfy) 8:00 PM EDT
Felicia Day shows up in Eureka as... oh, who cares its Felicia. Day. Squeeee! This might be a bad day to show up in Eureka, since everyone in town is starting to lose their smarts.

The Closer (TNT) 9:00 PM EDT
As if the organization of the LAPD weren't going through enough changes for Brenda to deal with, there are even more to deal with thanks to the climax of last week's episode.

Degrassi (Teen Nick) 9:00 PM EDT
Teen Nick brings back the Canadian high school drama for another 4-days-a-week summer run. Gay jocks Riley and Zane are still a part of the cast, though I don't get the impression we'll see much of them.

It's time for Design Star fans' favorite challenge, the white boxes and this time the designers are limited to using items they can find at a kitchen supply store.

Teen Wolf (MTV) 10:00 PM EDT
When Derek goes on the run, that leaves Scott alone with Stiles to handle his second full moon.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC) 11:35 PM EDT
Neil Patrick Harris will be stopping by tonight to try to make The Smurfs like something worth spending the price of a ticket.

Tomorrow's Preview

Covert Affairs (USA) 10:00 PM EDT
Tuesday's episode should offer a good amount of Christopher Gorham as we learn about the incident where Augie lost his sight.

Awkward (MTV) 11:00 PM EDT
MTV debuts a new scripted comedy Tuesday. The setup: a nerdy high school girl becomes infamous when a freak accident is mistaken for a suicide attempt. From what little I've seen, this one looks like it might be pretty funny and a little bit transgressive.

Web Therapy (Showtime) 11:00 PM EDT
Lisa Kudrow plays a therapist who claims she can help people in three-minute webchat sessions in this improvised comedy.
