TV on Tap: Meet Team Gay of the New "Project Runway" and Is Kevin Smith the Next Great Talk Show Host?

Tonight's reality TV picks should include some incredible music as
Lady Gaga guest-judges So You Think You Can Dance and
Stevie Nicks performs on America's Got Talent .
News
Gay-fave director Kevin Smith is rumored to be working on a daily talk show for syndication that's billed as a Live with Regis and Kelly for the 12-34 demo. Smith and his co-host will discuss current headlines and then chat with a celebrity guest. However, a lot of my excitement at the idea disappears when I hear that the show would be positioned as something that could follow TMZ.
I think this is a pretty bad idea: Fox wants you to pay in order to watch their shows on Fox.com or Hulu. If you want to try to catch an episode less than a week old, you'll need login info provided by your cable or satellite company. When TV networks started putting TV shows online, it was an attempt to give people an alternative to piracy. I have a bad feeling this just adds enough complexity to make a less-than-legal source more appealing.
Sunday saw True Blood and Curb Your Enthusiasm hit a new season high in the ratings.
ABC Family also got good news from AC Nielsen, as Switched at Birth reached it's best ratings yet and The Secret Life of the American Teenager got a season peak.
Finally, we've got some Project Runway news for you. Lifetime has shared which of this season's designers belong to "Team Gay." Project Runway is usually pretty inclusive and when the new season debuts tomorrow we've got 8 out designers to root for.
Anthony Ryan Auld
(left) hails from Baton Rouge, LA. He says he takes inspiration from
fabric and he's drawn to mixing casual and functional. Looking at his
audition, he's definitely drawn to mixing patterns, which makes me
wonder if he'll survive the comparisons to Mondo that his aesthetic is bound to inspire. Thankfully, on video the resemblance to Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul disappears, because I'd find that distracting.
Bert Keeter (right) lives in Los Angeles in an apartment where the kitchen has been transformed into a workroom. He says likes to design clean and sleek silhouettes but tries to avoid "ditzy" fabrics. He's been out of the design business for a few years, a story that's been a part of a few Runway competitors' bios in past seasons.
Bryce Black
(left) comes from Portland, OR. He says his sketches start out "crazy,"
but he usually edits them down into something more accessible. He likes
"rock star style" and multi-purpose designs, which should give him a
chance to impress the judges.
Joshua McKinley (right) is a New Yorker who likes to find ways to re-purpose old shirts and makes it work without industrial-quality sewing machines. He came in to the auditions with menswear, but he still managed to show enough daring and construction skills to impress. In the auditions, he took off his shirt so that he could model some of his clothing. Hopefully that won't be the only chance we get to see Joshua shirtless.
Rafael Cox
(left) is an Atlanta-based designer who knows fashion but will serve
you hot dogs and ramen noodles for dinner. He's drawn to sharp angles,
detailed construction and, apparently, those exposed zippers I saw on the
Runway a little too often a few seasons ago.
Viktor Luna (right) is another designer living in New York. He says he likes to do a lot of work from scratch, which sometimes includes creating his own patterns. He likes to experiment, which means his style is constantly changing. Which could leave him open to criticism about not having a strong voice.
David Chum
(left) comes from Boston and is a self-taught designer, after starting
out as a fine arts student. The designs he showed at the auditions
included plenty of detailed construction, but not a lot of color.
Gunnar Deatherage (right) is from Louisville, KY where he produces charity fashion shows. Last year, the self-taught designer had one of his dresses dubbed the must-have dress of the Kentucky Derby.
What do you think? You can check out videos of the designers at the Project Runway site. Who is your early prediction for the standout designer? Who will be the first one to leave Tim Gunn feeling concerned?
Listings
So You Think You Can Dance (Fox) 8:00 PM EDT
Lady Gaga sits in the guest-judge's chair as the final eight perform.
Big Brother (CBS) 8:00 PM ET
It's the Power of Veto competition, can Adam and Dominic take themselves off the block?
Melissa & Joey (ABC Family) 8:00 PM ET
While the adults and the kids usually get their own storylines, this time Mel is working with Lennox as she tries to become a model and Joe gives Ryder dating tips.
State of Georgia (ABC Family) 8:30 PM ET
Georgia must decide between her dreams and her bills when she gets a cast in a commercial. When it's time to tape, her day job asks her to stay late.
Roseanne's Nuts (Lifetime) 9:00 PM ET
When Roseanne suspects she might have ghosts, she asks a priest to bless her home. I'm a bit cautious about this one. As a longtime fan of Hawaiian ghost folklore, I hope the show doesn't bastardize the subject.
America's Got Talent (NBC) 9:00 PM ET
I'm feeling nonchalant about who gets eliminated tonight. At least I can look forward to seeing Stevie Nicks perform with last season's finalist Fighting Gravity.
Hot in Cleveland (TV Land) 10:00 PM ET
Jennifer Love Hewitt visits Cleveland this week as Victoria's daughter, who is writing an autobiography that Victoria fears may be a little too Mommie Dearest.
Happily Divorced (TV Land) 10:30 PM ET
Fran and Peter hit the internet in search of dates, leading to Fran meeting a guy she normally wouldn't date and Peter realizing he might have put out too much information about himself.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS) 12:35 AM ET
Craig will be chatting with In Plain Sight's Mary McCormack. I wonder if she'll joke about hoping her baby grows up to come out as gay.
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC) 12:35 AM ET
Neil Patrick Harris will be chatting with Jimmy tonight while They Might Be Giants are scheduled to perform. Sounds like an amazing show.
UPDATE: We hear there's more Sonny, T and Victor drama today on Days of Our Lives. Our own snicks will be liveblogging!
What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!
Tomorrow's Preview
The Gayle King Show (OWN) 10:00 AM ET
Gayle's got a pretty gay Thursday planned with Tim Gunn and Lance Bass on her guest-list.
Project Runway (Lifetime) 9:00 PM ET
Now that you've learned who is on Team Gay, get ready to see them in action!
Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC) Midnight ET
It's a JKL event as the show shuts down an entire city block for a Lady Gaga block party.
