TV on Tap: T.R. Knight Returns to Television, "Suits" Wins Big and "Project Runway" Posts a Solid Premiere

Out actor T.R. Knight is returning to television. Unfortunately, he's only set for a guest-appearance on Law & Order: SVU. It's his first TV appearance since he exited Grey's Anatomy, hopefully he'll have a bigger role soon.

Oz creator Tom Fontana is working on what's set to be BBC America's first original scripted drama. Copper is about an Irish policeman in 1800s New York. With a concept like that, I think I'll need to wait to get a little more information before I start getting excited about this one.

Don't expect major changes out of The Sing-Off when the show returns as part of NBC's fall season. Sure, the competition is expanding from 10 to 16 groups, but it won't switch to live shows or audience voting. Since a good number of the show's a capella groups are college teams, they need to record all the episodes over the summer.

The guest-cast for the upcoming season of Hawaii 5-O keeps getting bigger. William Baldwin has signed up for a story arc set to run for multiple episodes.

PBS is debating what to do with the sponsor messages that air before and after its shows. Basically, network President and Chief Executive Paula Kerger is worried that viewers are changing channels in between shows and would like to duplicate the way other channels have one show leading right into the next.

USA has a definite hit with Suits. The legal drama was the top cable program last Thursday among adults 18-49, beating its lead-in Burn Notice in that demo by a hair, though Burn Notice was able to draw more viewers overall.

Meanwhile, the season premiere of Project Runway saw a small increase over the previous season's debut.

Pete's ex-wife may be about to remarry, but (surprise) an artifact is going to disrupt the ceremony. Meanwhile, Steve and Claudia's latest investigation takes them to a Civil War reenactment... which means we get to see Aaron Ashmore and Alllison Scagliotti dress-up.
