TV on Tap: "Pretty Little Liars" Gets Blaine's "Glee" Crush, and Donna Brazile Gets Ready to Meet "The Good Wife"

It's a Lawrence Brother triple feature when Andrew and Matthew Lawrence join
Joey on tonight's
Melissa & Joey.

News

When Pretty Little Liars returns next year, we'll get to meet one of the students who attended the school of the blind with Colleen Jenna, and he'll be played by Alexander Nifong, who you might remember as the guy Blaine and The Warblers inappropriately serenaded in that episode of Glee.

Starz's next leading man just might be Leonardo DaVinci. David S. Goyer has written a pilot, Da Vinci's Demons, that focuses on the Renaissance Man's early days. I hope this show doesn't ignore Da Vinci's homosexuality, even if the period covered by the drama doesn't include his arrest for sodomy.

Meanwhile, HBO has ordered a pilot from Spike Lee, Entourage creator Doug Ellin and Mike Tyson titled Da Brick, which will take inspiration from Tyson' s youth.

Battlestar Galatica re-creator Ron Moore has a new project in the works. ABC has ordered Hangtown, the latest attempt at updating the western for modern audiences, which will mix elements from crime procedural series. As long as I don't need to turn on the captions to follow the nuances of the dialogue, I think Moore has me interested in this one.

FEARnet's original comedy Holliston just cast Twisted Sister's Dee Snyder and GWAR's Orderus Urugus. Snyder will play the lead character's boss and a member of a Van Halen tribute band, while Urugus will play an imaginary-friend version of himself. A member of GWAR as an imaginary advice-dispenser certainly gets my attention.

She wasn't able to appear last season, but Democratic strategist Donna Brazile will appear this season on The Good Wife as herself. Brazile was asked about appearing in the same episode with Lou Dobbs, but couldn't work it into her schedule.

Jason Priestly has jumped from one Stephen King-inspired project to another. He's following his run on Haven with a role on A&E's adaptation of King's 1998 novel Bag of Bones. The mini-series will also star Pierce Brosnan and Annabeth Gish.

I guess yesterday was the day to make announcements about Stephen King projects, since Showtime also announced that they will be turning Under the Dome, a 2009 release, into a series, with Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks Television. Under the Dome follows a Maine tourist town that suddenly finds itself cut off from the world by a force field. I remember former fans of King telling me to ignore everything after Needless Things. Should that leave me wary about these projects?

Josh Gad will follow-up on his Tony-nominated performance in The Book of Mormon with an appearance on Modern Family. Gad will play a neighbor of the Dunphys who idolizes Phil.

I suspect Spike TV will continue to be on the far end of my radar as the network makes Blue Mountain State its only scripted show. With shows such as Auction Hunters being hits, the channel is focusing on reality programming. With this kind of news, why did Current cancel infoMania instead of turning it into a daily show. There's just so much to mock.
