TV on Tap: "The Vampire Diaries," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Archer" Make Their Return

The CW's addictive supernatural soap The Vampire Diaries kicks off its third season tonight.

News

Sean Hayes certainly seems to be busy. Now we're hearing that he's one of the guests stars on the second season of Portlandia.

Fox is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Family Guy by airing an episode in theatres in ten cities at Midnight tonight.

Ugh. Here's more reason to fast-forward your way through 90210 when Teddy isn't on screen, Jersey Shore's Vinny Gadagino will be making an appearance as a celebrity who plays a game of poker against Liam.

We'll get to meet Burt's parents on Raising Hope this season, and they'll be played by Shirley Jones and Lee Majors.

After a summer of strong ratings, CBS has made the unsurprising move of ordering another season of Big Brother for next season.

Tuesday's premiere of Ringer certainly showed promise in the ratings, improving on the season premiere of Life Unexpected last year, and building on its 90210 lead in. Other CW shows have had stronger debuts, but those shows followed bigger hits. More interestingly, things look bad for 90210, which drew far fewer viewers than One Tree Hill did in the time slot last year. The teen soap also drew a smaller audience than when it aired on Tuesdays two seasons ago.

Yesterday producers suggested that preemptions in major cities may have led to a soft debut for Anderson Cooper's talk show, Anderson. However, Tuesday's episode aired in those markets and Anderson's ratings stayed about the same.
