TV on Tap: "Doctor Who" Gets Less "Confidential," Lisa Lampanelli Meets "Whitney" and "Awkward." Has a Big Close

Archer wraps up its three-episode fall run tonight.

News

Remember when Chazz Palminteri showed up on Modern Family as Jay's friend who set off Mitchell's gaydar? Palminteri will be returning to Modern Family and he'll be  joined by Jennifer Tilly.

Whitney has signed up another familiar funnyperson for a guest role, this time it's Lisa Lampanelli. She'll play an animal shelter manager who has standards for the kind of people she'll allow to adopt a dog.

Did Ashton Kutcher pull one on CBS? This week's Two and a Half Men showed Kutcher's character using a laptop decorated with stickers featuring the logos of companies where Kutcher has financial ties, a bit of free product placement that CBS might blur in repeat airings.

The BBC has canceled the Doctor Who companion series, Doctor Who Confidential. There's already a twitter campaign to save it.

NBC has won the bidding war for a comedy that will star Dane Cook.  I'm pretty positive I won't be watching and will be avoiding the promos.

Following the rule of "If a sitcom you adore makes up a URL enter it into your browser and keep your fingers crossed." last night's Happy Endings will bring you to the site for Def Glaze Records, where you can see the music video for "Love to the Power of Love."

Good news if you're a fan of clueless gay innuendo, the second season of Gold Rush will debut on the Discovery Channel October 28 as the gold diggers continue to work to reach that glory hole.

Awkward. wrapped up a strong debut season by drawing a big audience for the finale, getting a 2.5 rating among the 12-34 demographic. MTV was happy when the premiere got a 1.7 in that demo and the trend shows that audiences have embraced it.
