TV on Tap: Return Delayed for "All My Children" and Misha Collins Books a New CW Role

Ted Allen visits The Onion News Network as the satirical news show moves to Friday nights.

News

If you're enjoying Chris Hardwick as the host of Talking Dead  you'll probably be happy to hear that BBC America just ordered five more episodes of The Nerdist, which will air as specials starting with an hour-long Christmas Eve episode.

Bad news for those of you eager to see All My Children once again. With things moving more quickly for One Life to Live The Online Network is thinking about just bringing the residents of Llanview to the web for now. So AMC fans will have to wait longer to find out who whatshisname was planning to shoot and if Jackson ever starts to give a damn about Erica.

If there are people who appreciate under-appreciated TV shows who aren't watching Happy Endings, an appearance by Veronica Mars and Party Down alum Ryan Hansen should fix that. Hansen will play one of Penny's next romantic interests.

There were suggestions that the past season of Weeds might be the final one, even with creator Jenji Kohan talking about creating an ending that would work as a series finale, along with one meant to keep the series going. Now, Showtime has ordered an eighth season and I'm going to start making a list of garden weeds easier to kill than Weeds. (Let's see, there's johnson grass, bindweed, spurge...)

If you've been missing Misha Collins on Supernatural, I've got good news and bad news for you. The good news, he's booked an upcoming guest role. The bad news, you'll be watching Ringer to see him.

Will Ricky Gervais host the Golden Globe Awards again? The comedian and NBC are up for a return performance, so at this point it's up to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Apparently, former daytime hookers make great future werewolf mothers.

Now that Piers Morgan has quit America's Got Talent, NBC is negotiating with Howard Stern to replace him. I think the idea is brilliant, though I think Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandell would need to rethink their roles at the judges' table with him sitting next to them. Still, he'd go far to keep the dynamic on the show fresh.

NBC's upcoming midseason comedy Are You There, Chelsea? has booked its first That 70s Show reunion with Wilmer Valderrama set to appear as a minor-league baseball player who dates Laura Prepon's Chelsea Handler-inspired character.

Friday's Listings

The Nate Berkus Show (syndicated) Check local listings

Michael latest dilemma involves a man with a malignant brain tumor (John Benjamin Hickey) who turns out to have done some horrible things in the past. This show has become quite the home for Broadway faves, hasn't it?

Carson Kressley hosts this tribute to working dogs. This is going to be one big 'awww' fest, isn't it?

Chuck (NBC) 8:00 PM ET
Chuck and the team are sent to take out one of the CIA's most wanted — but he might have a bigger task awaiting him as Morgan's ego seems to be getting out of control.

When Michael rushes off to help his ex Cassandra out of a dangerous situation, Nikita starts to question Cassandra's sincerity. Meanwhile, Percy continues to work to move Alex to his side.

Bad Sex (Logo) 9:00 PM ET
This week the focus moves on to Joel the straight guy whose sex addiction has led to him cheating on his girlfriend again and again. I thought they got just the right tone in last week's premiere, treating the topic seriously without letting it get salacious. I'm hoping that continues this week.

Grimm (NBC) 9:00 PM ET
The station deals with the kind of incident that's bound to stir up the media — a flash mob that ends up turning deadly — but could the "Weird News" headline bait hide a job that calls for the work of a Grimm?

Supernatural (CW) 9:00 PM ET
If it's sweeps it's time for another Supernatural wedding! Wait, am I mixing this up with another show? Well, one of the Winchester boys is looking to tie the knot in this episode, we'll see if she lasts longer than any of the past women who've passed through the Winchester's lives.

Sanctuary (Syfy) 10:00 PM ET
What does Magnus do when two flying Abnormals come to the Sanctuary seeking his help?

The Onion News Network (IFC) 10:00 PM ET
This week, we move from The Fact Zone to the Onion News Network's morning show Today Now! where Ted Allen will demonstrate a recipe from his new book, Pretentious Foodie Bulls**t. I wonder if The Fact Zone had to find a guest-host considering Brooke Alvarez's breakdown last week.

X-Men (G4) 11:00 PM ET
Professor X worries as it turns out those captured by the U-Men are developing secondary powers, including Emma. She's getting her diamond skin in this version, right? Funny how something that seemed unnecessary when it first appeared in the comics now seems so essential to the character.
