Tonight the 2010 Creative Arts Emmys (or as Kathy Griffin calls them, the Schmemmys) were presented in Hollywood Saturday night. The atmosphere is fun, but the stars are dressed to the nines. Most of the awards are for backstage awards, lighting, editing, casting, but some major acting awards are handed out as well. Many of our gay and gay-fav stars were up for honors and in attendance.

Modern Family was a big winner in the technical categories, picking up three statues. Jane Lynch presented the show the award Best Casting in a Comedy Series, which Glee was also nominated. They also took the statue for Best Picture Editing for a Comedy Series, and tied for the win on Best Sound Mix for a Half-Hour Comedy with HBO's Entourage.

As a program, Glee picked up a lone trophy for Best Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama. But that wasn't the end of the night for the show.

Neil Patrick Harris picked up a trophy for Best Guest Actor In a Comedy for his appearance on Glee, edging out Mike O'Malley for his portrayal of Burt Hummel on the show. This was Neil's first Emmy Award, despite three prior nominations for How I Met Your Mother. Neil then picked up another statue for Best Special Class Program for the Tony Awards, something he was added to in the last minute. From the stage he thanked Boomer the Los Angeles Times reporter that caught the error and gave him a trademark double thumbs up. He's always such a class act.

Betty White snagged Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her turn hosting Saturday Night Live, but wasn't present to accept the award.

Kathy Griffin failed to win another trophy, and to add insult to injury, she lost to Ryan Seacrest.

The Emmy for Best Commercial went to The Man Your Man Could Smell Like - Old Spice Body Wash.
