Is America Ready for George Michael as a Talent Show Judge?

U.K. newspaper The Sun is claiming that the brilliant mess that is George Michael has been asked by Simon Cowell to join him and Cheryl Cole as a judge on the U.S. version of X-Factor.

According to the The Sun's source: "George is going to take the job. It's an amazing opportunity to get back in the limelight and reverse his recent bad spell. Simon knows that Americans love him. He is as big in the U.S. as he is over here."

Michael is apparently a big fan of the U.K. version of X-Factor. He even performed on that show last year with winner Joe McElderry

Assuming this X-Factor rumor is true, I don't know how to feel about the news . I wish George Michael all the best and am a huge fan of his music, but it would be more than a little mortifying if the man becomes a fixture on what is sure to be a blockbuster U.S. show - and midway through the season he gets arrested in a park somewhere!

Or maybe that was the appeal for Simon Cowell? Having sat next to Paula Abdul all those years, he's probably used to working with seriously loose cannons.
