Michael Urie Geeks It Up In TBS Pilot "Brain Trust"

We're all still mourning the demise of Ugly Betty, and as time passes and we see a dearth of shows with gay inclusiveness, it's easier to appreciate just how special that show was.

A major reason for Betty's success was the character of Marc, played by Michael Urie. Marc started out as a one-episode character, but thanks to Michael's chemistry with so-star Vanessa Williams, the role was expanded and made a regular on the series.

Through the course of the four seasons, Marc went from a one-note, shrill stereotype to a fully realized, multi-dimensional man thanks to the skills of Michael, who made us care for this flawed and funny character.

Since Ugly Betty ended Michael has returned to his theater roots, starring in The Temperamentals and soon will take-off in Angels in America, and now comes word that he may return to weekly TV.

D.B. Sweeney, Lindy Booth, Jed Rees

Michael has joined the hour-long TBS comedy pilot Brain Trust, in which he'll co-star with D.B. Sweeney (The Cutting Edge), Lindy Booth (Relic Hunter), and Jed Rees (Galaxy Quest). We scraped up some info from the "sides" of the pilot, and here's what we know so far:

His character's name is Franklin.

Another character keeps teasing him that he is a thirty-two year old virgin still living with his mother.

He uses words like "libation" and while going undercover at a gym notices the hunky trainer Paolo has large "breasts".

Franklin also collects "limited edition Napoleonic war miniatures" of which he is very possessive.

We're not sure if Franklin is gay, but he and the other male characters definitely read as geeky. It seems very "reminiscent" of The Big Bang Theory.

We'll keep you updated as we learn more. Vanessa Williams is back on TV, and hopefully we'll soon see Michael back as well.
