Elton John to Host "Saturday Night Live." Expect Gay Jokes. Probably Bad Ones.

Does Elton John have a bucket list?

Probably not.

Bur he has made a few surprising decisions lately. From having a baby ... late in life, to performing at the wedding of Satan's cousin (twice removed), it does appear that he's ... trying new things.

Now he can add another first-time experience. On April 2nd he will serve as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

The booking was revealed at John's annual Oscar viewing party, held Sunday night at the Pacific Design Center. The swank bash included a live auction to benefit the Elton John Aids Foundation. Among the items offered was VIP access for two to SNL's April 2 show and cast after-party, courtesy of Lorne Michaels. The winning bid came in at $75,000 dollars.

 

This will be Elton's first time hosting, and his first time on the SNL stage performing in almost 30 years.

Considering that this show frequently appears to be written by and for intellectually limited frat boys, one has to worry about just what kind of gay jokes the show will let fly. One also has to wonder why Elton would choose to subject himself to the indignity.

Unless it's penance for performing at the wedding of Satan's cousin (twice removed).
