Will Young is Haunted in the Supernatural Drama "Bedlam"

British singer/actor Will Young has had quite a career. It began when he won the very first Pop Idol back in 2002, and he came out soon after.

Since then he's sold over eight million albums, and become a fixture in UK pop culture (even if he's still an unknown brand in the U.S.).

Will's also turned his attention to acting, and after appearing on the British stage as well as appearing in the film Mrs. Henderson Presents , is now set to debut in the six-part paranormal series Bedlam for Britain's "Sky Living" channel.

Will plays Ryan McAllister, an IT expert who's "nerdy and lacking in confidence, but also clever." He's also straight, and The Daily Mail, in their usual subtle way, suggested that it may be shocking to see gay actor Will in a straight romantic role.

Will responded perfectly:

"'I think the series has the potential to shock, although I hope you’re not suggesting it’s shocking because I am a gay man who gets passionate with a woman,’ says the singer, his indignation perhaps only partly for comic effect."
‘"There are plenty of straight actors who have played gay men. Why not a gay actor in a love scene with a woman? I think it’s quite refreshing. And the scene was so enjoyable to film. I don’t mind getting my kit off, and it helped I had a crush on Charlotte Salt, the actress who plays opposite me in that love scene. Just don’t tell her boyfriend . . ."

Let's just hope a certain Newsweek writer doesn't review it.

Bedlam debuts on Sky Living on Monday, February 7th. Below you can see Digital Spy go more in depth with Will about the series and his role. Apropos of nothing, I adore Will's tsunami hair.
