Sean Hayes In Talks To Return to Series Television

Sean Hayes

As was just announced by NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt (the first openly gay broadcast head) at the network's TCA panel in Los Angeles, former Will & Grace star Sean Hayes is in talks to star in a new comedy at the Peacock network. If the show indeed comes to fruition, it would be a welcome return to series television for the actor, who hasn't headed up a TV series since W&G ended its run in 2006.

Of course, the announcement got us to thinking: what kind of comedy is it going to be, exactly? Will Hayes be playing another openly-gay character or will he go "straight" for the role (despite the probable disapproval of Newsweek journalist Ramin Setoodeh)?

And more importantly, what do you think? Would you prefer that Hayes portray another flamboyant character like Jack McFarland? A more "butch" gay role? A straight ladies' man, a la Neil Patrick Harris? And what kind of concept do you think would suit his talents? I, for one, think it would be hilarious to feature him in a series based around a gay man sent to Marcus Bachmann's "Christian counseling" clinic.

Sound off with your thoughts below!
