"90210": Teddy's Final Meet-Cute

I started watching 90210 because it is about a bunch of average normal teenagers and I totally identify with them.

Kidding!

The truth is, I lost a bet and got suckered into watching the show around the same time Teddy (Trevor Donovan) came out. (True story.) So, in anticipation of his “fakeVegas Wedding on tonight's episode, here is Teddy and Shane (Ryan Rottman)’s brief journey in season 4, so far.

After making a brief appearance outside a tent in the season premiere and coming out to his father through a voice mail, Teddy went on a recovery tour, and ended up in Barcelona.

After his return, the first person he meets is Silver, his ex GF-turned-BFF, and tells her about a summer romance in Barcelona. He also tells her how his father hasn’t answered any of his three voice messages reminding him that yes, he is still gay.

Damn! If I had pulled a stunt like that, my dad would have slapped me for not being a man enough to tell it to his face. And P.S. I’m a girl. But then, that’s just my family.

As for Teddy's family, his uncle, who happens to be running for Congress on the Republican ticket, tries to smooth things over by calling for a truce between Teddy and his father.

As usual, the chemistry between Silver and Teddy is awesome. Kinda makes me wonder why TPTB bothered to make him gay, when all he still does is hang around with Silver.

Moving on. Next we see Teddy at his uncle’s house, where he's been enlisted to help out with the campaign. For someone who came out to his actor father over a voice mail, Teddy is surprisingly cool about his sexuality around his conservative homophobe uncle.

A brief background before we proceed any further. After losing her scholarship because of her bipolar nervous breakdown during the college interview, Silver has started making commercials for extra credit. Her first video featured a shirtless Liam (Matt Lanter still under that blessed “No Shirt Clause” in his contract).

The commercial is of course a massive hit and catches the eye of a gay activist/campaign manager named Shane (of course it did!), who wants her to design a congressional campaign commercial.
