Appointment Viewing: Class is Back in Session at "Drag U," and Keith Olbermann Starts a new "Countdown"

It's time to program your DVRs as we've got a week's worth of Appointment Viewing to cover. If you thought last week was busy (Summer doldrums? Who said?), this week gets even busier with plenty of new shows including the returns of Futurama and RuPaul's Drag U, a new edition of Countdown with Keith Olbermann and some new series, such as Elijah Wood's new comedy Wilfred.

Friday is a pretty quiet night for TV but we do get a look back at the week in media with a new infoMania. This week brings a special Father's Day edition of  "Viral Video Film School," while Ben Hoffman visits the nerd mecca of E3, and Family Guy voice actor Mike Henry (best known as the voice of Cleveland) shows up for a chat with Brett Erlich.

Following infoMania, Current has a reality show I've only just noticed. What Did I Do Last Night? is a British series that films people who drink to the point of memory loss. Cameras follow them on a night out and then the next day they are shown footage of how they behaved while drunk. While it sounds a bit, er, lowbrow for Current (and there is a second season in the works) the first of Friday's three episodes include a bisexual London man.

NBC has a new Friday Night Lights as Coach Taylor struggles for control of the team with Vince, while HBO has a new Real Time with Bill Maher.

BBC America kicks off its "Ministry of Laughs" line-up on Saturday, which brings the latest Matt Lucas/David Walliams comedy, Come Fly With Me, a mockumentary series that follows the drama that goes on at an airport. As they did on Little Britain, Lucas and Walliams play most of the characters, from the racist immigration officer, the incompetent check in clerks, and the passengers who fly through the airport.

While the comedy on Little Britain relied on finding new excuses for characters to say their catchphrase, Come Fly With Me varies things a little more. Some characters get their own arcs, some appear for only one episode and, overall, it shows Lucas and Walliams growing creatively while holding onto the spirit of Little Britain.

Unfortunately, it has one truly cringe-inducing quality. Their characters include non-white characters that aren't funny enough to overcome the discomfort of seeing them wear make-up meant to make them look like a different race. Worse, those characters are so heavily based on tired cliches (we've all seen the giggling Japanese fangirls before) that they quickly go from uncomfortable to offensive. Thankfully, the hurried pace means that we're quickly distracted by funnier characters.

Before the premiere of Come Fly with Me, BBCAmerica has a new episode of The Graham Norton Show. Graham's guests this week are Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow, Geoffrey Rush and comedian Jason Bryne. We should get to hear Gaga talk about the sacrifices she's made for the sake of fashion and see Paltrow rap before it's time for a performance of "Born this Way".

Saturday isn't just a comedy night for BBC America. it's also a night of sci-fi programming with the debut of Outcasts. With a cast that includes Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber and Ugly Betty's Eric Mabius, Outcasts follows the struggles faced by a human colony as they try to deal with life on another planet in the year 2040. The reviews I've seen were definitely a mixed bag, but at least this show has more reason to dress Jamie Bamber in short sleeves than Law & Order: UK did.

HGTV has your dose of David Bromstad as he mixes mid-century and Bollywood influences on a new Color Splash. I am going to see how that comes together. Logo has a new Pretty Hurts as Rand gets a visit from Curt's mother. Finally, if you can't wait for the new season of Drop Dead Diva to begin, Lifetime has a marathon of the second season for you.
