Gays of Our Lives Theater: Edwin's Unforgettable Birthday Surprise on "Good Times, Bad Times"

In this week’s Gays of Our Lives Theater we take a look at Emmerdale, People of the Valley, Hollyoaks and Good Times, Bad Times…..

Emmerdale

Jackson remained as angry and upset as ever….

When we last saw Aaron and Jackson, Aaron had started going on awkward dates with Flynn again and Jackson secretly moped about losing Aaron. You know, like they’ve been doing for the past couple of months. Will anything ever change between these two?

That had to be the most unromantic reunion ever.
I didn't think it was possible to tell someone ‘I love you’, beg them to take you back, decide to give the relationship another go and barely touch them in the process, but Emmerdale managed to pull it off. Bravo. In a way, it’s understandable why Jackson wouldn’t be touchy feely with Aaron given everything that’s happened and his condition. It does make sense in terms of the story. But given that we know that they never touch anyway and why they don’t, it just pulls you right out of the story. We shouldn’t be thinking about what is going on behind the scenes in the actors heads when we watch a show, but unfortunately we are and that’s a shame. Because in many ways the scenes did work.

Danny Miller made Aaron’s admission moving and heartfelt…

Danny Miller is a very talented actor and it showed in his scenes with Jackson. I did like how Aaron said that he was tired of everybody telling him what he should feel and that maybe people should listen to him for a change. Miller was effective in those scenes, however, they would have had much more impact if we’d actually seen instead of just heard about what happened between Aaron and Flynn. But then we’d probably have a moment where Aaron and Flynn might actually touch in a sexual manner and we couldn’t have that now could we?

And it’s really too bad about Flynn. He was an interesting character and Ryan Prescott an engaging and appealing actor. It’s a shame he was only a plot device.
