The Week in Gay TV: SAG Awards its Best Performances and Madison Hildebrand is Selling More "Million Dollar Listings"

Welcome to another edition of The Week in Gay TV, your guide to the shows that will be battling for space on your DVR in the week ahead.

This is the last week before the February sweeps begins on Thursday, so there are a few favorites still in reruns, but there are a few debuts including the return of Million Dollar Listing.

Friday brings the second episode of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. From the looks of things, we get to see Barca fight in the arena as Batius makes use of his gladiators to set his plan into motion. After the way things ended last week, he's certainly got motivation.

I was certainly eager to see Spartacus return last week but I forgot exactly how harsh Rome could get. In the first season, we got a slower introduction to the brutality of Rome — and just as it got to the worst, all my anger at Roman society got channeled into that bloody finale.

Gods of the Arena quickly dropped us into the dehumanizing nature of that society and I spent half of the premiere episode adjusting to the brutality. I hope the series finds a way to provide catharsis before its over.

Curtis Stone with Matthew Mitcham

Meanwhile, Friday's new episode of Your OWN Show gets hunky (not Spartacus hunky, but still hunky) when chef Curtis Stone mentors the hopefuls through a cooking segment. I guess it's too bad for aspiring TV chef Aunt Flora that she got eliminated last week, before she got to use her primary talent in a challenge.

Then again, I guess that matches how the two people with comedy experience (including out competitor Ryan O'Connor) didn't get to show of their comedic talents during last week's late night talk show challenge.

Unfortunately, there's also bad news for fans of Friday night sci-fi and fantasy. This week was supposed to see the return of Smallville and Supernatural but both shows won't be back for another week due to preemptions in Chicago and Baltimore. I hope those of you who were eager to watch pretty boys battle monsters and supervillains again can bear to wait another week.

At least there's still a block of edgy Friday night comedies to watch on IFC with The Onion News Network and Portlandia. After a segment about the inventors of various sex acts that included a demonstration using an anatomically correct mannequin, I wonder how far The Onion News Network will go this week.

Finally, BBC America has a new episode of Law & Order: UK as the team has to solve four murders before the killer can claim a fifth victim.

Saturday sees the debut of one of the most highly-anticipated Syfy channel original movies, Mega Python vs. Gatoroid.  Syfy's monster movies already do a great job delivering campy fun, but this one increases the camp factor with 80s pop icons Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. Our own snicks will be liveblogging it over on our Facebook page. Why not join the fun!

The two singers will be battling more than over-the-top monsters in Florida — this one also has a pop star catfight that, from the looks of things, involves cake frosting and a cocktail umbrella. Even better, you can also expect to see the likes of Desperate Housewives' Kathryn Joosten, soap vet A Martinez and Monkee Micky Dolenz make appearances. The move even features a new Tiffany single, "Serpentine."

I just hope the How I Met Your Mother producers are watching to get inspiration for the next Robin Sparkles episode.

Saturday also sees Jesse Eisenberg host Saturday Night Live with musical guest Nicki Minaj, while BBC America has Vince Vaughn and P. Diddy visiting The Graham Norton Show.
