The Week in Gay TV: A Week With Three Reasons to be "Glee"-ful and Matthew Perry is "Mr. Sunshine"

It's time for another edition of The Week in Gay TV, your guide to the week ahead and the shows battling for your attention. The next seven days are likely to be busy ones for your DVR, The February sweeps are in full swing and that means no more reruns of your favorite regular shows as well as some high-profile debuts and specials. This includes the return of Glee as well as the debut of Mr. Sunshine, a new workplace comedy with  Matthew Perry and Allison Janey .

After an unexpected delay, gay sci-fi and horror fans get their Friday night shows back when Smallville and Supernatural return with new episodes to kick off the weekend. And both shows are giving fans a little extra reason to be excited about the return.

On Smallville, Chloe is back — but is she a friend or foe? Considering her history with the group, that sounds like a strange question, but Clark, Lois, Dinah and Oliver all have memories of being held captive with Chloe being in charge. That leaves them wondering if something happened to Chloe during her disappearance.

Then, on Supernatural, Sam might get his soul back but no one is sure if he'll be the same once body and soul are reunited. They can't spend all their time waiting for Sam to recover, however, so Dean and Bobby pursue a menace new to Supernatural — a dragon. I always enjoy Supernatural's take on different monsters, so I'm happy to hear they've found a way to fit another creature into the Supernatural mythology.

Starz has a new episode of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena Friday. Just as Batiatus thinks his plans for prominence are going well, he has to deal with the arrival of his father — and he's not happy with the state of the House of Batiatus. Hopefully, we'll also be seeing Barca and Auctus in the arena.

NBC kicks off a new season of its celebrity genealogy reality show Who Do You Think You Are? on Friday. The series has profiled several gay-fav celebrities in its first season and Friday's season premiere adds Vanessa Williams to that list. When Williams was crowned Miss America in 1983, she was the first African-American to win the title. Now she learns that she wasn't the first trailblazer in her family.

Hypocritical conservative politicians who are revealed as being what they so loudly condemn is a well-known phenomenon, and this week The Onion News Network takes that on when a conservative Senator and his relationship with his horse becomes public. The episode is titled "Man-Horse Marriage" so I'm expecting mockery of the arguments against marriage equality.

Finally, BBC America has a new Law & Order: UK while Syfy has a new Merlin. Friday also sees the competitors Your OWN Show work to create their own commercial.
