The Week in Gay TV: Jeff Lewis is "Flipping Out" again, Oxygen has a "Hair Battle Spectacular" and a "Beekman" store opens
Welcome to another edition of The Week in Gay TV, your guide to the shows battling for your attention in the week ahead.
There’s plenty of change this week as Bravo gets ready to go Flipping Out for real estate developer Jeff Lewis all over again, Oxygen gets ready for a Hair Battle Spectacular and IFC hangs out with The IT Crowd once more. Meanwhile, several series wrap up their runs this week including Work of Art and The Fabulous Beekman Boys.
On last week’s Shameless we got to spend a good amount of time with Mickey, and on Friday’s episode we get to catch up with Chatsworth’s other gay, Ian, as he begins to worry that Danny is a bad influence on Liam. While so many shows forget their gay characters exist when there isn’t a gay storyline or a straight character in need of advice, Shameless remembers that people like Mickey and Ian have varied lives.
Those of you interested in how Degrassi handles transgender teen Adam might want to check out this weekend’s repeats. While none of the stories focus on him, Adam has a supporting role as Sav tries to attend a concert forbidden by his parents, and when Eli tries to deal with a bully.
So far, things look promising for Adam, but the true test will come after Adam comes out — will he disappear the way Riley does?
I'm still hoping to see Fargo meet Wonderfalls' mouth breather
Friday’s Eureka brings Warehouse 13’s Claudia to General Dynamics, where Fargo tries to impress her with the town’s technical advancements. Naturally, she finds a mystery to keep her visit to Eureka interesting.
Logo has more sketch comedy with a new Jeffrey and Cole Casserole.
Finally, Friday Night Lights wraps up its fourth season and I’m sure some readers will be eagerly tuning in, but I’m still catching up on the first season. So far, I'm stuck only appreciating the show in theory ... I see the quality but I’m still not engaged emotionally. Then again, that’s also how I felt about Mad Men for most of the first season.
Annie and George try to play Cupid on Saturday’s Being Human. Unable to interact with the world again, Annie decides to reunite Hugh with his old girlfriend. The plan goes awry when Hugh’s ex falls for George. Seriously, they didn’t realize that would happen? Talk about underestimating George’s charm.
It sounds like Annie and George’s story is going to be fairly light, which will be needed as Mitchell tries to convince local vampires that they need to stop feeding in order to keep their presence hidden.
