The Week in Gay TV: A "Color Splash" Centennial and "Shep and Tiffany" Take an Animated Look at 2010

Welcome to another edition of The Week in Gay TV, your guide to the shows that will be battling for your attention as you scramble to figure out that one really challenging present.

Things are pretty quiet this week, but there are a few new debuts and specials including Ellen DeGeneres hosting Christmas in Washington, the 100th episode of Color Splash, and the debut of two Blais Off specials, a reality show featuring Top Chef molecular gastronomist Richard Blais.

TNT celebrates Christmas Friday with a new Christmas in Washington special. This year, the Emmy-winning holiday celebration has Ellen DeGeneres hosting a show that includes Mariah Carey, Matthew Morrison, Annie Lennox and more performing for an audience that includes the President and the First Family. Carey will perform a song from her new Christmas album while Morrison will sing a medley of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and "Mele Kalikimaka" that, hopefully, will not include any rapping. Myself, I can't wait to hear tenor Andrea Bocelli's  take on "White Christmas."

Meanwhile, BBC America delivers a new Law & Order: UK as the team looks into the death of a young woman who died at the airport when an attempt at smuggling drugs into the country went wrong.

Finally, The Science Channel has two new specials featuring Top Chef alum Richard Blais. In Blais Off, the fauxhawked molecular gastronomist tackles classic dishes and creates his take on them, starting with the iconic hamburger and New York-style pizza. Blaise created some real marvels when he first appeared on Top Chef, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when he gives himself a challenge. It would be fun to see classic American food include regional dishes. (Okay, I just want to see the plate lunch reimagined by a molecular gastronomist.) At the very least, Blais' show sounds like a better idea than SyFy's upcoming show following Top Chef's first molecular gastronomist, Marcel Vigeron.

It's been four-and-a-half years since we met David Bromstad in the first episode of Design Star. Since then, we watched Bromstad excel through the Design Star challenges, winning him 99 episodes of his own show of HGTV. And on Saturday, Bromstad will deliver the 100th episode of Color Splash.

It doesn't sound like Bromstad will be spending the landmark episode celebrating the the past, as he and his team will be focused on updating a traditional bedroom into something inspired by Miami's historic Villa Woodbine estate. Maybe we'll see Bromstad include a special 100th episode painting.

Somewhere in Graham's audience is a "Copacabana" fan. Can you spot him?

BBC America will deliver a preview of this year's Doctor Who Christmas special when opera signer Katherine Jenkins visits The Graham Norton Show. Norton's other guests include  Barry Manilow, comedian Sean Lock, author Ann Widdecombe and KT Tunsall.

Danielle Fishel joins the parade of year-end retrospectives when The Dish Salutes 2010's Craziest Moments on Saturday. With a full hour to reminisce, I certainly hope we'll see the return of shirtless sound guy, drag queens Kay Sedia and Frida Lay and at least one barb aimed at The Real Housewives that also hits Andy Cohen with snark.

As a programming warning, for some reason my cable guide has this listed as "Moments" so be prepared to tune in to something other than The Dish if you're planning to watch The Dish.

Finally, Logo has a marathon of shows featuring guys who frequently strip down to their underwear with the Tighty Whitey Weekend, featuring episodes of Jackass, Nip/Tuck and The A-List: New York.
