"Project Runway" Snapcap: "What The Hell Just Happened?"

SERIOUSLY?

At the end of last night's Project Runway, i took to Twitter to voice my ... displeasure.

Well, I've had time to sleep on it, and now that the emotions of the moment have passed, I can come at the events that transpired with a fresh perspective.

And it's still a load of crap.

Let's a look at how the show managed to screw everything up.

BEEFCAKE: Any time they have Anthony splayed on anything, it gets extra points.

He's practically begging to be cuddled

DRAMA: The drama this week involved a routine trip to Mood that turned into Anya: The Lifetime Original Movie. She was close to checking out when she discovered that the envelope with her $100 dollars was gone. She nervously backtracked throughout the store, eventually enlisting the aid of store employees until Tim told her she had two choices: You can go back and have only muslin to work with, or cry until one of your fellow designers feels sorry for you and shares their money. Luckily, Anthony has $11 dollars left over, and decides to help out. It's an awesome display of generosity and stupidity.

As soon as I saw Anthony hand over the money, I thought to myself, "She's going to end up winning the challenge." Little did I know Anthony would sacrifice himself in the process. In the Lifetime movie I can totally see him being played by Freddie Smith.

Oh, and I never thought Anya was in any danger of leaving. Her ticket to Fashion Week was stamped long ago.

AFTERELTON BAIT: After today, there are three out male designers, and three female designers. You're next, Kim or Laura!

CHALLENGES: Last week the designers had to design for a rock band, with a lot of the finished products looking like terrible 70's knockoffs.

Guess what? This week the challenge really is about making 70's knockoffs, so it's a good thing they got a headstart last week with the terrible part.

Each designer has to make two separate pieces, which is a relief to Anya, because this means they get another trip to Mood with some extra money (which she wisely keeps out of her voluminous cleavage this time). And I found it telling that Laura, and especially Anya, have decided to break their Sisterhood Of The Not Making Ugly Ass Pants vow, and didn't tell Kim that she was making ... ugly ass pants. Girl Power!

Well, the judges have their say, and Anya is the winner. Because look what she can do with $11 dollars! And I don't know if you've heard this, but she only learned to sew four months ago! Oh, you have heard it?

Sorry if I seem a little perturbed with Anya, but she didn't endear herself to me with her attitude when Anthony was being critiqued. When Michael Kors called Anthony's design "Hippy Sister Wives," she reacted to Anthony's decimation with this:

"Oh, but thanks for that 11 bucks, loser"

The runner-up is Viktor, who is not happy with losing to Anya, especially after the judges gush about how perfect his pieces are.

The bottom two are Josh (more on him later) and Anthony. Admittedly, his designs weren't spectacular, but no way in hell did Anthony deserve to go home. After being dismissed. he leaves the stage and there's a notable moment of awkward silence with the judges before Heidi pipes up with, "He was cute."

Tim comes in to tell Anthony to pack his things up, and in a remarkable moment, he starts tearing up telling him goodbye. He didn't do that with Olivier.

TRAINWRECK QUOTIENT: If there was one bright spot this week, it's that Josh got a small comeuppance. He was in the bottom two, and when the judges ripped him apart for his ghastly 70's Frankenstein Hooker designs, he hilariously tried to give them sassback. It didn't work.

Even better was backstage, when he complained that he didn't do well because he never lived through the 70's. Kim smacked him down with, "Well, a lot of us didn't, But that's not what it's about. It's about knowing fashion history." Not having a response, he instead got up and ran away. Bwa-ha-ha!

Below you can see Anthony's exit vid, and you can see all the designs on the following pages, What did you think of this week's episode?
