"Greek" (3.4) recap: High & Dry

Grant and Calvin's relationship hits a tiny little snag this week ... by the name of Whitney.

Calvin is busy wrapping Grant's gift (with "girlie" wrapping paper, which will be a running joke) when Rebecca comes in and asks for Calvin's help patching things up with Ashley (apparently, kissing someone's boyfriend is a no-no. Who knew?)

Calvin is bemused, but before he can answer, an annoyingly chipper girl flounces in asking for Grant. Calvin says "Oh, are you his sister?", but when Grant come in and she plants a very passionate kiss on his lips, it's clear that she's most definitely not. Either that or Greek is going in a seriously different direction.

Her name is Whitney, and she's Grant's high-school girlfriend. Like countless girls before her, she fell in love with a gay dude. When they're alone, Grant apologizes to Calvin, and says "I've been planning to tell her, but I wanted to wait to do it in person." Calvin reminds him that ... um, he can do it now, but Grant is still too afraid.

Whitney bounds down the steps (she does a lot of bounding), and says "Hey guys, I hope you don't mind, but I moved stuff into your closet. It's huge! You can fit like a person in there!"

Calvin says "So ... you're staying here?", and Whitney coyly purrs "Don't worry, we won't do anything naughty ... until you're asleep." Calvin's look of disgust is priceless.

Calvin comes into the dorm room to find Whitney sitting on the bed, upset. She found a gift-wrapped present to Grant with the initial "C" on it, and is afraid that he's cheating on her. Calvin admits that it's from him, and she's relieved. She was sure it was from a girl because of the ... wrapping paper. I'm not sure where Whitney is going to college, but clearly she's not in any danger of graduating summa cum laude.

Later, Calvin and Rebecca chat about what's happening in their lives, and he admits that he and Grant are dating. Rebecca is shocked to learn that Grant is gay, but tells Calvin that sometime it takes a while for people to come out, and he should let Grant handle this in his own way.

We also get Calvin's coming-out story, which involves working at Express for Men when he was in high school.
